  1. We'll have to agree to differ.
  2. They are in different positions on the coin.
  3. JLS, I've added the picture in its current state and will replace it if you manage to smarten it up. Would you like me to attribute it to you personally (if so, let me know your name) ?
  4. If you're going to tidy it up a bit, I may wait.
  5. Yes, Gouby doesn't list this one.
  6. Thanks, Paddy, that tip is absolutely priceless. Like Gary, I have sometimes deleted something by accident or dragged something by mistake into oblivion and that single action would have fixed it. I've just tried it and it works. Thank you again.
  7. Unless my eyes are deceiving me, Terry's penny doesn't look "as rotated" as Ian's picture ?
  8. The wife's already had a go, and it's cost her a lot more than 30 quid in compensation........
  9. Surely the hairdresser must be number 1 ????????????
  10. On this F114 it looks as though all the date numerals have been double struck including the underlying 1 (which is logical as it's part of the die).
  11. Might this be a 2 over 1, Mike ? Freeman states that sometimes the minutest trace of the 1 can be seen and your photo suggests something at the top of the 2.
  12. I would be vary wary of DNW at the moment with uncatalogued lots. They have recently sold Hiram Brown's collection of copper and bronze and they parcelled many of them into multiple lots with no regard for the content. If care had been taken to catalogue the individual coins, they would probably have doubled the price paid. Your coins are almost certainly not of the same quality as Hiram's but I imagine DNW would only offer them in bulk lots.
  13. In the process of creating my website of halfpenny varieties, I'm finding it much more difficult to differentiate between halfpenny varieties than penny varieties. Some of the differences are so slight that it must be a nightmare trying to identify worn specimens.
  14. I believe there is a small minority who self-abuse at coin sites - the 1933 penny has a lot to answer for. I've even splashed out on the odd rarity myself.
  15. Isn't the extra leaf (bottom left in the 3rd group) the key indicator ? i.e. Obv 7
  16. They probably won't be able to host pre-auction viewing either which, combined with the more recent deterioration in their photography, will contribute to a huge non-event.
  17. Sorted - thanks guys.
  18. When I bought my Peter Nicholls coin cabinet, they also sold me a pack of paper discs about 23mm diameter on which to record details of each coin. They no longer supply these and I need more. Does anyone know of another source ?
  19. Done to keep vampires at bay........
  20. Thanks Jerry - hopefully my website will help with identification !
