And members and guest hop in one forum to another. any additional info like publishing some tread on the web or flood the web of predecimal info.
  3. Seems more complicated after reading the CN on wikpedia. The queens face in the coin is symbolic but other recognized her as a head of state, that is interesting.
  4. Yeah seen some topic about that guyana in some site. The way I interpret the face of the queen in the obverse of the commonwealth countries is that thier is a reason why the queens face is there,For me it is more like a EU currency which they have same national side in case of GB or commonwealth they have same obverse, for me it is more on a trade arrangement on all commowealth countries, but the image also represent power and the image of the queen is inscribe in the coin, that will have an effect if GB have trade agrement on its commonwealth if GB plans joining the EU currency for EU will regulate other things. Dont know if they have a agrement, arrangement, treaty, or law regarding this commonwealth countries, heard in the news in the past that there is a royal visit in Australia and the side talk was their independece or something like that. Just thinking if GB join all commonwealth countries also join or the commonwealth countries will have entirely different currency, for if they are independent they can choose the obverse and put other images not the queen images.the question is why they didnt choose other image now, is there a story on queens image on all commonwealth country that will affect if GB join EU currency.
  5. Hypothetical if GB join the EU currency is Canada and Australia and other commowealth countries are included to EU currency?
  6. Yes you are right again CHRIS I misunderstood and lost about the post of TOM. The question was the grade of the dealer against the grade of CGS. Im Imagining things again that all those expert names are in collaboration with the CGS. Thank you for the correction.
  7. Loads of expert name in your post TOM are they all direct or indirect part of CGS? If they are part of the company who will take the hot seat first. They can used the line of dickinson 20 years of experience who will question that. Well who will police just an idea BNTA.
  8. Yap they all should be recorded not only coins and artifacts but also other metals detected to resolved other mystries.
  9. Maybe they can post upto 500 post then to be studied and give the price on every querry they like.
  10. Well CGS have to learn from US company that it will not happen to them. One way is to take the pulse of the collector on other name services they will going to offer to hear or know diff. opinion and advice on different medium.
  11. OK CHRIS and sorry. For sure you will include new variety in british coins in your books from CGS for a portion of coins will go there for verification and authentication,if they have a new find.If the company will last they will accumulate a portion of coins in high grade and wide variety in every denomination, lucky for those who work there they will have wide info on british coins and saw the actual coin. To other readers inquire here first to british expert and its free. scott. I have no info on what happen to US kindly explain it to me more.
  12. I will just email them everyday until they will have a representative in this forum. If they dont sure others will watch thier company. For now one name is familiar alex anderson other staff are unknown including thier credentials.
  13. Emailed CGS UK hope they will reply to this forum especially to thier own coutrymen and fellow expert.
  14. THANKS TOM FOR THE CORRECTION. So thier company seems credible NO FAKE COIN SLAB YET.
  15. Ive sent an email to london coins several days ago no reply, most of the email is to have a representative on other medium simply cannot find the CGS site ,encluding forum like this. Still no staff of CGS forwarding in this forum. I think they have responsed on other site, seen some responsed on ebay discussion, good start they reason in some site. No list of other staff though, so others can ask question on them especially to co-equal if not other british expert in this forum can surpass them. If tom coin is a fake and slab, there will be a loads of question to be answered in this early stage of thier company. At this early stage they dont reached to this forum I think, hope they will have sense when thier company last, or became stable or an institution, not reaching to the other medium only in times they neede help then they will reached out.
  16. Good for them any members of CGS in this forum or staff of CGS.
  17. Beau coin emp.
  18. Here in ireland also having trouble in finding farthing both ireland and GB, in the coin shop most of the coin I observe dont last long maybe tourist purchased them.as sourvenier or small change from thier holiday and carry along with them. The charity, most of local charity from time to time garther collection mostly on shop and mostly small denomination is used on where it goes I dont know.any one who is familiar in eastcost area tesco greystones in the past put a cylinder roughly 3 feet by 1.2 feet dimension donate your all old and foriegn coin for local charity it reached several hundred thousand euro almost 300 thou not sure if it happens it could also happen in the past and to the coin dont know where it end up. Change in life and moving places, before and after the decmalisation farthing as other mentioned already lost its value, mostly I maybe wrong it will be found in the skip, for Im buying worn and circulated penny and half penny in carbooth old folks laugh, even much more younger generation selling coins ireland coins only small denonimation from 1971 to 2000 thier reaction is pretty much desame.Well in every carbooth thier is a skip and those that are moving houses might do the same. cashier vault most of the main offices have a finace dept. and they may have a vault even thier is someone going thier everday they dont check the whole room and corner or a tin can. Hoarder dies and the one who left with the coins neglect and didnt know what to do. on where it goes I dont know. Maybe placed a cylinder and note donate your old farthing for your NHS.
  19. I thougth it was a coin? Its that the original state of it?
  20. Thanks scot for another info. Red no not still standing but those that are already torn down or demoished maybe,Im not into metal detecting and never seen A metal detector hobbyist here in ireland personally, only on TV When they do found a coin they plot it or chart it,It might be a corner stone of acient past,or maybe a public building onced and the coin in there is only few example or rare or proof.and when archelogist dig a foundation they dont used metal detector well what do you get on a foundation who will put things or coins on base of the building most of the artifact are above the foundation, maybe a marker been here and we erected this building the proof is the coin. Well the readers from other countries colonized by GB may know it now they can have a shot but the record and the plot where the coin is found is more helpfull.both acient and modern. maybe celtic or greek. under the foundation not on top.
  21. THANKS EVERY ONE FOR THE INFO. Scott, Thier is another one counting the steps of stairs by 3 if applicable but on the first step 3 coins before you enter a room or a house, still exist in my mothers house.more like spanish dont sure, oro plata mata or nata like ore silver or gold something like that. Geo So there is high probability that other public biulding in 1700 down have a proof, normal struck and first stike sorry I mean first hammered coins in the base of their pillar. Thus other countries like Canada,America,Australia and other countries that was colonies by UK have the same tradition putting coins on the pillar of the new public building on the middle edges, Proof or circulated. For now I will base this tradition why we put coins on the pillar to the european.well GB I know there is an article in clayton wriitten about it and the resources of the expert in this forum now it will suffice. No info on other EU countries if they practice this in the middle ages. About the romans not sure if it originate to them, most of the documentary I saw on TV has one basis on finding what date the building was made that is by coin found on the site when no other artifact is found, but the archeologist,I do rarely see them using metal detector on the site is more likely a last result on the foundation of the biulding since roman coin are in circulation for hundred of years sometimes they cant pin point the date, Well the romans may have used it and other expert may agree that they do, but after watching the program what romans did to us on TV Im having second thought for it maybe another copied practice by romans to other civilazation not barbarian as romans would record it,for I noticed before the roman expand its power and territory the celts are mostly in the major part of europe ,if not celts other civilization but not romans. It will be new if a coin of celts found on thier foundation long ago before the roman did or arrived in thier expanded territory. Gary It could also be eastern may be china, but the countries in far east that have that kind of tradition did any european countries did colononzed them, Phil by spain I think a portion land by british for several years also ducht not sure but encountered it that several European countries control a land, now they are part of Phil. we know
  22. Thanks chris, More like a time capsule,so putting coins on building goes far as 1700, Does monarch put proof coin on those building in 1700. Putting coin on pillar is European or eastern in origin.
  23. Read about the article on clayton again on 1933 penny that was placed on one of the church made on 1933 that the pillar was moved to get the penny. Just wondering who started this kind of thing placing coin on the foundation? Thus it originated in UK or Europe and when it started? Thus other metal detector hobbyist already know this thing? where the buildngs in GB are one on top of another, public and private ones, well some I saw on BIG DIG when they are excavating, new ones are on top of the old foundation, Thus a lay man or common man of the masses practice this,?maybe a number of old folks in the PHIL. practice this,They only put coins that is out in circulation in its foundation that includes my folks or parents. What is the meaning of putting coins in the foundation?
  24. Thank you very much, Now Im not confused also the other readers of this forum.about the fantacy coin. It is clear now that GB is not joining EU currency. seeing those coin have a imprint that GB is joining EU in definite time, for the coin is thier ,instead it is a fantasy coin.decieving the buyers and the stand of GB towards EU currency. More likely conditioning effect on seeing this coin on the net. So NO PATTERN FOR GB ON EU CURRENCY THAT IS CLEAR.
