  1. Thank's Mr T i will keep that in mind. Peck i'm going with your method. I immersed the coin today in virgin olive oil and will turn and change when needed. I will post a photo in the next couple of months to see if there is any approvement. Should be interesting, great show and thank's for all your advice. Cheers James.
  2. Thank's Rob for your comment's will look into that when i have a bit spare £. Peck i'm going to try the olive oil. I've used this before on coins that have been MD finds, i know it takes time but i've had great success in softening the debris etc then lightly using a tooth brush, if you remember i posted a thread about a year ago 1861 penny 1 over 1. I didn't know using olive oil may result in removing the verd, have you or any other member had success removing the verd using olive oil? Thanks james.

  4. Haway peck i'm trying some good advice on the verd put by all. I might try mr muscle widow clean as suggested, i don't want to gamble and damage the coin, or would it be best to leave the coin as it is?

  6. Thank's guy's for your comment's will post a better pic when my daughter get's back from blackpool i mean benidorm she took the ipad i normally use to take photo's. Peter i don't normally buy green one's myself but the 38 half penny has quite a low mintage figure and one for my albumn, got this for a canny price .

  11. Welcome Jason from jim in sunderland, a great forum with a great set of lads with terrific knowledge. I myself started collecting coins about 2 years ago, my main obsession is victorian coinage which i'm very proud of, collecting coins can become a major addiction like i have so the wife say's.Decide what interest's you the most and stick with it.

  15. Got bored boy's because of the weather up here, so decided to go through a few vics that are in poor condition. Any way came across this 61 penny, the 6 looks like it's been stamped over another numeral. Can anyone id the number behind the 6, thanks james.

  19. Hi boys just a quick question on my 58 pennies. I've noticed the numerals are a different size, the 1858 with no w w on trunk the numerals are bigger and wider than the other 58 with w w on trunk. Any ideas, thanks jim.
