  1. Is that really you saying that Azda..??..lol !
  2. Thanks....I have seen some half decent ones for 6.5 ....Tony Spink had a couple of decent ones that I missed out on.....there is someone out there that will take £5k in cash ..... I will have a trip up to York or the Midland later on if all else fails...... cheers
  3. Hi Neil....thanks... I'm in no rush.....I'm sure there's one out there.....
  4. Does anyone have for sale an unmolested 5gns for under £5k?.....please PM me if you do...
  5. Although it seems to me that no-one on this site here actually lives in or near London and most appear to 'avoid London'.....there is nothing wrong with the fairs in London.. Having said all that, my favourite fair for buying over the last 30 years is actually the January one in York (a bit of a schlep drive from London but York is a great town)...but I have to say the majority of the dealers there (most of them the same old faces) are not what you would call customer-friendly and seem far more interested in talking to each other than with a potential customer......and on the Saturday at the fair, several of them (you know who you are..) are wrecked from partying the night before ....then again , so am I.... I once ventured in to the dark side....downstairs where they keep the stamp dealers .....scarey !
  6. Still awaiting any sort of response from Spink to my emails...and this is from a paying customer who is trying to use their system in order to effectively give them money.....unfortunately I get the distinct impression that Spink are still very much in that acedemic, Ivory Tower world of yore....and we are just the still the little people......
  7. Why oh why is this site still so bad ??.. I know that Spink have no longer have any real interest in ordinary collectors but even so..... Almost everything I have tried to do just now comes up with some sort of error refering back with a request to email the Spink IT dept or comes up with some unitellegible techno message that I suspect only Bill Gates would understand....and the site is counter intuitive.......very poor show.
  8. ........dont come home drunk in the early hours of the morning on a school night and login to Spink online....had to retract all the bids later in the day .....stick to the porn....much safer.
  9. Nice coin....price seems about right....I would question the UNC grading as Britannia's boobs have been rubbed a bit...not in a good way....but still a good coin.
  10. Hi Rob / Bernie, Do you know what the story / history is behind this latter day mule penny.?...I also have seen three now advertised for sale ....although to be sure I cant recall if its the same one three times?? Thanks Colin
  11. There a some nice bronze pennies in latest Auction.....that 1860 Mule looks good ...also, Rob what do you know about the 1953 Mules....are there many ?.....
  12. Agree with all that....I bought some cracking Siege pieces from Peter at Grantham and have always bought well from MR and Steve Mitchell at Studio.....the worst over grader of all time in my personal opinion was John Welch Coins....I believe D J Traynor went on Her Majesty's naughty step for a while ?
  13. I sold mine in EF at DNW last year.....now unless they've significantly doubled in price since then, then personally I would suggest it would be nearer the £1k mark.....there would be less appetite for it in that grade.....quite a rare date nonetheless.
  14. Thats says all you need to know.............
  15. Yes, I read the Mail...so lets get that one of the way first... Did you see that head set of crowns being offered in the Mail ...a full page ad I seem to recall...GeoIII onwards ....£1250 for the collection.....whats the cheapest you reckon you could by that lot for £450?
  16. Dear Lord what is about people now in this country??...you cant be posh or rich or Southern without abuse or consistently having to justify it and having to dumb down....I worked my bollox off and took commercial risks to earn what I did....I'm still working on the posh bit... Spending on anything is relative to each individual's circimstances....I used to spend 10's of thousands on coins a year because I could afford to ..end of story...not because "I'm a nut job" to quote our friend here....and why is selling a coin and making a profit such a major problem to so many people on this site? .
  17. You think you've got it hard ....I also collect playing cards used as secondary usage....such as when they were used as coinage during the French Revolution...also in Canada at that time...they were also used as advertising, wedding invitations...early post-it notes by 18th century academics....and many other uses...but very difficult now to obtain....
  18. Yup...all true but these are 7 different ones... Its like when I went to buy a supposedly very rare 1841 Sovereign...after making a few calls and putting the word out I was inundated with them in only a few days...same as a Cromwell broad....loads of them in reality....I bet that if I wanted to, I could lay find half a dozen triple unites in a day......so are these coins really rare? I've tried hard to find a 4 Real with the octagonal Geo III countermark for over 5 years....its a £400 coin....cant find one for love nor money...thats what I call rare......
  19. ....really that rare?....currently I know where there are 7 for sale ....I'm sure with a little effort and a few phone calls I could track down a few more......??
  20. Good shot....looks like an H to me......definitely not going for it.....thanks
  21. I think I'll pass on it.....personally, I'm not over happy with that flakey looking "2". Thanks for your views anyway.
  22. Bernie.....what do you think of the 1882?...is it just a weakly struck 2 or has it been molested?...thanks
  23. There a some rare old pennies in the September auction....has someone off loaded a collection...or some duplicates?
  24. I am not impressed with the Baldwins offerings, and find them to be a little aloof. Baldwins always had and still have the "me expert, you dickhead" approach to dealing with ordinary collectors.
