  1. There appears to be a missing colon after 'F:D' as far as I can see? You could be right. I must admit that I did notice the blocked die but as I don't personally collect them I hadn't really considered it. To me, it's certainly not worth such a premium. Hi. I didn't have a bid at that one but got a good few of the sellers other items.
  2. Hi. Didn't get to see any pics of your coins for sale. Any links etc or e-bay name. Cheers

  5. Hi all. I have been watching a 1918 KN penny on the Bay which just sold for £1320. It was graded as GEF/BU. A very nice coin but havn't got that sort of cash. What do you think and would you? Cheers all.
  6. Hi. Now thats the kind of info we need. 13 now. i know that more will turn up but it would be nice if the RM could just say XXXX amount got out not "just a few" Cheers Dan
  7. That includes my one? Hi. Yes that includes your one. So at the moment it makes it as rare as the 1933 PENNY.
  8. If any one knows more about this coin or has one it would be great to know about. I Know of 7. Hi all. So after 2 months or so we know no more about this withdrawn design.
  9. WOW. That one is on my wish list.
  10. Hi. I might be inerested in it if your willing to sell. Do you have a pic. You could put it on e-bay and send me the link. Cheers Dan
  11. Welcome to the forums Jackie That's not really an error, more an example of how lax the Mint have become in standards. It's probably a die crack or something like that, and the 5p is so small that probably the inspectors failed to notice such a tiny phenomenon until a large number had been minted. If you found 3 it's unlikely to have any rarity. Thanks for bringing it to our attention though. Hi Thank you for you reply. i must agree with you. yes it looks like royal mints standards have droped. the other 2 coins are different, one is die filled. and the 3rd coin the word penny is just a mess. I thought die cracks ect were classed as errors. now im confused. jackie There's more than one way of looking at everything! To some they would be classed as errors, but among the collecting community they would be regarded more as deterioration, or degradation; dies wear, or crud gets onto a die or a blank, or dies crack. To collectors, an error is usually regarded as something that is the result of human error not simply a machine. For example, blundered dates, or an overdate / overpunched letter, spelling mistake, design flaw - that kind of thing. Thank you peckris for explaining it to me. im new to coins and learning. i was given a few old coins a while ago im only just starting to look at them. i have a few wheat cents and noticed the word liberty was all messy. this is when i started looking at error coins. since then found my self inspecting every coin on my purse lol. There is one coin i cant identifie i will post it on the forun to get some help. jackie Hi. I collect error coins like this aswell as the "normal" coins. In 20,30,70 years time they might be recorded as errors and if looked after now will be good examples in years to come.
  12. Yes it's a nice coin and from one who has quite a few of these you are off to a good start, but which one is it? Now there are several 1887 crowns and it is difficult to tell from your photos but you can see on the coin itself; 1) is the plume to the St. George head double struck or double engraved? 2) is the bottom right serif missing on the 1 of the date? 3) what is the distance between the R of VICTORIA and the T of BRITT? The range is from 34.65mm down to 33.59 for the proof. 4) is the top of the first 8 missing? Now that has whetted your interest there are at least ten or more different sizes in the 1887 Crown as the dies were made using a pantograph to reduce from the master plaster mould. As a guess by eye I would say yours if quite close to 34.00 or less. You will need a vernier calliper to measure it and also need to take at least 10 readings to get any meaningful average. All a bit anoraky for most but that's what we are here for isn't it? Sorry at number 3 it should read T of VICTORIA to R in REG WOW. That is going to keep me busy. I will let you know my findings. I thought that they were all the same. Cheers Dan.
  13. Hi all. Just wanted to show off my new 1887 crown. It might not be anything special but i like it. I think it is in EF condition. Would you agree? Cheers all.
  14. OK. Or could it be because it's behind the plastic of the pack the RM issuied them in.
  15. The one on the left is the withdrawn one, the other you can find in your wallet. Now you can spot the difference.
  16. Hi all i'm new here. I would like to know more about the 2011 aquatics 50p that the royal mint withdrew. It has lines across the face but the issued has no lines across the face and less lines across the body. I have spoken to the royal mint about this and they said "a few got out" the rest have now been so say reminted or destroyed. If any one knows more about this coin or has one it would be great to know about. I Know of 7. The most i have seen one sell for is £196.Hope i get a good response. Dan
