  1. No offence at all! I was interested in the symbolism of peace returning, and the end of bloodshed, upon the battlefield, at least!
  2. ChKy, I'd be interested in your take on it! Are there any celebrations in Germany that mark the joy of soldiers returning home, and families being reunited after such suffering on all sides?
  3. Now this should send a shiver up the spine this morning! The same old bells that sent their glorious sound out across the land for the actual event! Notwithstanding the fact that many of our tower bells are the same old bells that rang out in Stuart, and even Tudor times! Wonderful! Stick your head out the door at 11 chaps and chapesses! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32670639
  4. I wonder if you are meaning the fat 8, thin 8 variety? Have you visited this yet: http://www.aboutfarthings.co.uk/Farthing%20-%201862.html If the variety small 8 over large 8 existed, I would've expected to find it on Colin's site? He'll probably be along to correct me shortly!
  5. Hang on, someone else on here has just bought one of those?

That's actually quite a nice coin, what's your example of it, TG? I'm guessing you upgraded it?

No, it's alright, it's Ch..chuffin' great! It's true, I'm not a massive fan of the C1 shillings, but that's not a bad coin, it's actually hammered onto the flan, and the flan's nearly all there, and it's coin-shaped! There are better reigns out there, of course, George VI and Elizabeth II for instance? No, it's a nice coin, and I know the price will have been a good and fair one! Someone's gotta love 'em!
  8. Hah, brilliant! I can't believe it, I was actually listening to Abbey Road when I scrolled up and spotted this!
  9. I only meant to watch a few minutes of that documentary, and ended up watching it all!
  10. With so few known, it's unlikely to be anything other than a single die-pairing, surely? Edit: and a single pair at that!
  11. 231553133627 it's certainly one way of explaining away the replica marks!
  12. Mine works absolutely fine on the iFault!
  13. Yep, £15 for up to 5 coins to HK! I queried value, and she breezed over me with '£15's the charge' And then I'm sure I heard her say under her breath 'now FO, will you, I'm trying to get some sleep here!'
  14. Fair enough!
  15. TPGCs just ain't worth the conversation, as it always degenerates into the farce that slabbing is! Surely the type of buyer who is going to be buying a 1*+A is going to know for him/herself whether it is or not? Do you mind me asking your motive, Dave?
  16. i think it's what the actual value of the coin is, which is ambiguous I know. They charge you according to the value of the coin, so buying a Una coin from an old dear for a tenner isn't going to wash with them. I agree, I found/find that part of the submission process a little odd...but then it would have to be, wouldn't it? It is a coin grading company, after all!
  17. iFault! Love it! Your grammar is better than a good percentage of English folk's, ChKy!
  18. You'll have to excuse my grammar! Why would my phone want to change 'have' to has, and 'moved' to move? Grrrr!
  19. You're a top man, ChKy, it's great having you here! I love a bit of single malt myself!
  20. Certainly buying plenty of pieces, that's for certain! Do you buy most of your coins from Germany itself, or has the coins move out into neighbouring mainland Europe?
