  1. Do you mean me or MJMD? I'm going to hold out for 2+a hopefully!
  2. The farthings have beaded edges i.e there are beads all the way around them.
  3. Unfortunately, he never divulges on his list the prices they sold for, so one cannot "save up" until another one appears as one just doesn't know how much it was. Then again, if one sees it before it sells, the one would know.
  4. I believe he sold a fleur de coin specimen recently but he hasn't had any on for a while
  5. Ok so there are four variations to the 1953 which are: Obv 1 : Cross points to a bead. Obv 2 : Cross points to a space. Rev A : F and I point to a space. Rev B : F and I point to a bead. Plus you can have combos of this: 2+B is the most common of the lot, 1+A (formerly in the plastic sets) is scarcer, 1+B is quite rare, 2+A is extremely rare . Occasionally, 1+B can be found in a 1953 plastic set.
  6. After fierce googling, I cannot find who bought it - probably a private buyer.
  7. I put 5-9yrs as i've had coins for that long but only started collecting about three years ago and only started to specialise about seven months ago.
  8. The double eagle point was sarcasm and he said he didn't buy the Henry VIII one
  9. Nope. Pff no, it will be a very long time before I dabble in hammered methinks!
  10. There are many that are colourised by the state - I just did an image search on google and it came up with those. If you have the coin yearbook, it has examples of the best and worst coins (in their opinion) of the year from all over the World. The Aussies had a really nice one which was actually in the shape of Australia which I've never seen before.
  11. I'd complete my whole farthing collection in the best possible condition and of course I'd buy the 1933 Double Eagle!
  12. Many of the Eastern european countries release them but, disappointingly, our own mint issued some for the Commonwealth Games. Although done tastfully (they just coloured in the little flags on the reverse), it seems this is a slippery slope. Some from the US Mint. Lots of them are done well however there is an increasing number of substandard (see above link!) drivel!
  13. I'd kill for one - literally
  14. Hehehe no, I meant the men on your coinage. Besides the work becoming more stylised, we now see more use of colour and holograms (something I am vehemently opposed to) detracting from the engravers' art.
  15. Calm down, Will, I was only saying!
  16. That one which "doesn't look expensive" is an early bronze proof - 1841 to set you all salivating!
  17. God, I wish! The ones in my signature would set me back tens of thousands
  18. Aren't you meant to love (not in that way ) these men?!
  19. The ones in Stage One would have to be the Edward VII dark finish - there's just something about them (besides their colour) which sets them apart from the rest. However I quite like the second silver one in my sig - it's a George I one and is quite exquisite!
  20. I have a scanner that works but it's quite streaky. I took it to pieces last week and got it to work, but it's not really any use.
  21. Hopefully (and this is a long shot) I want Stage One in BU then if I'm still interested I'll do Stage 2 (Victoria) in Uncirculated (but I may miss her out because there's just so many) then Stage 3 would be George III Last coinage-Victoria, Stage 4 George I-George III First coinage. I may go back further if I'm still interested or, more importantly, if I have the cash!
  22. Indeed perhaps we could rotate around the members with scanners (at least those which scan well!) biweekly and get them to submit a coin for the polls.
  23. Lol, I'm ploughing the majority of my cash into Stage 1 Farthings (1902-56)
  24. Yes, I think we got that, William
