  1. If the first is genuine (I can't tell without a lot of Photoshopping), it's probably Diocletian or one of the many short-lived emperors of the mid-late 3rd century A.D. As far as value is concerned, even if it is genuine, probably not worth a fortune as this type of coin is turned up quite regularly by metal detectorists. The second is definitely a gaming token and I would tend to agree with John (argentumandcoins) re the third. It actually says POSTVUMVS on the obverse side of that coin - Gotta have good eyes
  2. That is an interesting remark as I was just thinking of getting a few world coins slabbed by them (PCGS or NGC) but I was actually wondering if it would be best to split them up i.e. do they British ones here and the world by PCGS in America. The mind doth boggle...
  3. They are not super-rare, a pair of 1817 Bull Head's.
  4. Question 2: Would there be any point in slabbing a Conder Halfpenny with the Anglesey Druid in XF? Also, what are your thoughts on Halfcrowns, I have an XF and a VF+ would this increase their value. I suppose this is really the main sort of question. And where is there PCG label recognised as a mark of quality? Is it just London Coins auctions?
  5. I was wondering whether this was a good idea - I am thinking of sending some coins to be slabbed at London Coins' CGS service? Does this service offer a good value service? i.e. are the returns well worth it when compared to the costs for the service itself?
  6. I wonder if he knows he's the culprit? Hmm Dime-bar!
  7. This is quite interesting?.. It seems he has chosen a fine name for himself! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KING-HENRY-V1-1422-1461-silver-coin-/260747807066?pt=UK_Coins_BritishHammered_RL&hash=item3cb5c7c95a
  8. Have a feeling that is going to be some kind of Polish Solidus.
  9. Oh my God I can't believe people are still paying fortunes for those 20 pence pieces on echobay ahahahahaha!
  10. I have it, but I am keeping it secret in my Swiss bank account NOT!
  11. I have a LOT bookmarked and I didn't count them fully but there might be over 100 I am going to go back and organise them all at some point, maybe even re-read them too. At the moment I haven't found the time to go through many of them so I selected 1-20% as I have occasionally used them for reference. I keep bookmarks to pages on the almost entire gamut of numismatic topics. Here are some select examples of what I've got Roman women on coins (always hard to ID!) http://anonym.to/?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_piLpDBZVM A really interesting website on pit and colliery checks.. http://www.mining-memorabilia.co.uk/Checks.htm How to read Nuremberg Jetons http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/pages/nuremberg-jetons.html Cnut short cross Pennies (I have a couple) http://www.englishhammered.com/cnut/cnut03.html Reference to Umayyad coins http://www.grifterrec.com/coins/islam/umayyad/umayyad.html
  12. I have 7 of these in my possession right now, but only one of them has the dot at the bottom pointing to a denticle (to left). All the other 6 have a 'loopy-Q' and the dot goes in between. Is this an accurate ratio?
  13. Thanks for writing the post, I had no idea that such varieties existed.
  14. The last one, does look obvious. The first of these two, not bad... I have to say 'it is very, very worrying indeed!
  15. What about it? Apart from the strangely placed XII?
  16. Yes, I agree. I think the reason for it is simply due to the auction calendar being a bit quiet at the moment and hence there is a spate of material being offered. People have got to have their coins, and so the result is predictable...
  17. ROFL! I'm struggling to see what's means to be so interesting about such a coin as that!
  18. I don't know, they might fool me! Such nice copies
  19. I've neevr heard of the expression "To have a crush on Victorian coins" before, how quaint!!
  20. Hey Chris - there are some right *&*s on the bay, I know!..
  21. Is that perhaps because we don't all know that much about these rareties? How much of the share would you be willing to impart with someone anyway?
  22. Wondering how hard it is to distinguish the Edward I,II Pennies...

  23. The first coin seems to be Spink 1348A or Class 4a for the Pennies of Richard I. Obverse description: Chin + side whiskers made up of beads/pellets; hair is made of up of two or more non-parallel crescents left and right. Crown usually has seven pearls. There is a not as good example halfway down the page of this link http://www.hallshammeredcoins.com/?page=coins&offset=0&type=2
  24. Well I just can't make head nor tails of it personally. I think I'd prefer his but I'm basing it entirely on tone as per the picture.
  25. Hey financial value isn't everything!!
