  1. Are you feeling ok ?? One should never speak to soon, just made a purchase I think i'm officially an addict. Do i get any tokens from the Government to help me buy coins?
  2. You forgot to tell us about the strong rubbing lustre on the coin Dave. Lol, i only want to buy the hole John, not the coin, its the best hole ever He's wrong I'm afraid. I'll just quote the late great Richard Burton in Where Eagles Dare "A hole is a hole is a hole as they say" I was going to watch that last weekend, but opted for Kellys Heros instead. Where Eagles Dare this weekend me thinks
  3. The man is a complete twat. With a name like styx collectables, it is entirely appropriate that he likes holes. Lol good one Rob...........On a lighter note, i've just invested in Michael Goubys reworked Penny book. Looking forward to going through it. Might slow down on the purchases until after or during xmas now, unless something really good comes along
  4. Ok, just for you 400, here is the ebay link, look at the guys description of his holed coin, he likes the hole more than the coin, and i was saying i might ask him if i could buy the hole instead of the coin because the hole is the best hole you could possibly have in a coin Read on http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110596946068&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D110596946068%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

  7. Have a look at my last post in ebay laughs, it is absolutely superb
  8. Don't think it was sniped Derek, it was standing at 63 pounds for a day, but it was overpriced at 63, but still a nice coin but wayyyyy over the odds
  9. A little rundown on this, it actually did make me laugh. A holed coin, please please please read this guys description of the holed Penny, i think he gives more time in describing this beautiful hole than he does of the coin itself http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110596946068&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D110596946068%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 HAHAHAHAHAHA "if a coin has to be holed i'd choose this hole" this truly is a gem of a hole, one of Ebays best lines EVER, christ i might just buy the hole and tell him to keep the coin, it really is a beautiful hole though
  10. I was watching that one as well Beebman, a bit above my price range right now though
  11. Yes Tom i believe a lot more people are investing in coins instead of putting it into banks, thus pushing prices upwards, i wonder if it will all end in tears like the housing markets and banks collapsing. I have my eye on a little something, so fingers crossed and we'll see how it goes later, whatch this space (or at least coin aquisition of the week )
  12. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330480192824&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D330480192824%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 And another from the same seller http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330480198501&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D330480198501%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
  13. Very handsome. Victorian, would you say? I don't think so Peck as it would have been called a Nachprägung in German which it wasn't, so i'm assuming an original.
  14. On the subject of medals, here's a nice old piece i found. 1641 Charles I.......72mm and 94.28g
  15. If you cpmpare the E in ET it looks like the H in HIB is the same albeit with a leg added, perhaps after they spotted the error? If you or anyone has another to compare the the Es and Hs of the same denomination? If you eliminate the leg of the H, then it certainly looks like the 1st E in ET
  16. Karl Goetz Medals http://www.karlgoetz.com/
  17. And lets not forget, what it will eventually do to the toilet bowl
  18. I have to ask, a day out in Finland, anything in particular Scott? Or a cheap flight?
  19. Aye, Winnie was the MP for Dundee. And just as a side note, a well known Hollywood actor, Brian Cox, was born a bred in Dundee, he was in Bourne Identity and the sequal and also in Braveheart and played Argyle Wallace in the film. His sister still stays where i grew up, in Lochee Dundee. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004051/ <<< Brian Cox Am full of useless information today
  20. Well, this has been addressed already, but as an aside, I would agree that you're not going to get too many coin collectors in the average football ground. I'm an Ipswich Town supporter by the way ~ cultivated by my upbringing in Essex. The only team who don't use sponsorship is Barcelona, if they did, they'd get quite some cash. The last time i saw, they had UNICEF accross their strip, don't know what they have now though
  21. Ok, a piece of trivia for you all. Winston Churchill was an MP (obviously) before he became PM. Which city was he an MP for, and here's a wee clue, my hometown Ok on the subject of medals, here's one i picked up at a local fleamarket, this is'nt the actual one i have, mine is not in such good condition, but its the same one, and on the same note, i have the same birthday as this idiot. Notice, he was 50 when WW2 started, 5 months after his birthday.
  22. If anyone is interested i can post a few more pictures of some medals from the 3rd Reich. I don't want to offend anyone, so am asking before i do so, these are only for study and nothing more.
  23. Have never thought to even look David, besides, the girlfriends purse has most of my coins but now you've mentioned it, i shall keep a check and get back to you on the subject, maybe in a month and see what i've come up with. Edit........I have a 50 cent from Slovenia, it says Slovensko so am assuming its Solvenia
  24. I thought it was Brussels that did most of the bullying John, i remember a few years ago when France wanted the UK to give up some huge amount of cash fro farmers i think it was, only Angela Merkel stood by the UK and told France that if the UK were to do so then France should do the same. Again we're headed into politics, but yes a very crude and nasty piece of work by Goetz, i don't think his most popular, i assume he was very pissed off at the occupation by the French on German soil. I read last week that Germany has only just last week paid the last installment of nearly 57 Million for the rebuilding work for France and the likes during the 1st WW, it saidit would have been paid eariler had Hitler not stopped the payments during his time. I think it equated in todays terms as something like 225 billion that they have repaid.
