  1. A Nice Pair! (To quote a certain 1970s record company...). Would it be rude to ask how much they cost? (I'm in the market for similar bun penny items providing not too expensive). I pm'd you Peckris
  2. Yes peckris i did, obviously a coin aquisition to :-)
  3. and the next is the 1862
  4. REV of this 1874 is quite stunning
  5. Ok, so here are the in hand pix of these 2 coins, thoughts please and Freemans numbers. Left in hi res so 4 posts
  6. Wow, thats quite a few coins and notes there cartwheel, you'll be on a par with scott who collects everything, he should actually change his name to hoover Welcome to the forum
  7. Ski, if you go onto Colin Cookes website and look at part 2 of the Workman sale there was a 26 ME in that sale, in fact, here it is. Now you can see the difference between an ebay sellers AU and a real AU
  8. Can't see an H personally, it might Be lurking under the ceap tho
  9. Genuine? Why the ??? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190481745455&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D%2B190481745455%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
  10. Well, here was my 1st Penny, i thought was BU but now UNC, unless someone says AUNC lol
  11. Both images are what i have actually bought....... I bought both for future sale, when both are in hand, i'll offer hi res images as usual as i have no fear of what i buy, i buy because i hope that they go home eventually
  12. But yet they cannot be called BU, i wonder if at certain times we're being harsh towards grading. As coins get older is it possible to keep them in mint preserved states. As a coin gets older should the preserved states of certain periods of grades go upwards? I hope you undestand what i mean. Sometimes Spink don't list a coin above VF or EF grades, what happens if something comes along in a higher grade outwith what Spink has listed, how do we value that?
  13. So the 74 is nowhere near BU, personally i thought it wasn't far short black stain apart, so what is the criteria for BU and has anyone got anything of this age in BU?
  14. And here's another, 1862 this time
  15. Just wondering, because if they're not, then how far off are they. Personally the 1874 i would have said was BUNC, but just my opinion
  16. I would have said VF+ myself, certainly no AUNC. Does this man ever get embaressed by his overgrading and what does the people that buy from him think when it arrives, clearly his feedback is pushing him along
  17. I think the coin case is just screwed into place so it could possibly be easily removable, maybe take it to a jeweller if you are really wanting it out to check the weight
  18. And here's one fom Sid the cleaner, 1926 ME Penny, quoted as UNC.....aye righty oh http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230564236263&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D230564236263%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
  19. And your reply to this Scott in coin aquisition of the week was "the close 96 is the most common, but still a nice 1896" yet now in CCGB its something else? So a new opinion now because of CCGB? I thought as the subject of date spacing has been brought up I would dig out an old thread from ages ago concerning date spacings on vic bronze pennies and other varieties. Might be of interest to to you and others azda. Date spacings It would probably be better to start a new thread on Viccie Pennies alone, as there seems to be so many of us collecting in that area. Then anyone with date spacing, missing colons and oversstrikes could post them in there so that the other members who dislike the whole idea of a missing colon being a variety etc need not enter if they choose Personally i'm being drawn towards copper overstrikes as a collection type
  20. Paypal is generally instant if you have funds in the PP account and paying for something, if on the other hand you want to withdraw funds from PP then it takes as much time to get to your accout as a direct debit does
  21. The coin is a jubilee head shilling, made of sterling silver, but if it is gold in colour, then its almost certainly been gold plated at some time. This date doesn't command very much value as many specimens were put away for the queen's golden jubilee. Also gold plating will detract for a true collector. The only caveat I would place on this is other forum members, who know more than I do, may be aware of specimens of this date struck in gold. None of my sources suggest this, but I am always aware that all sorts of strikings and specimens suddenly turn up on here and somebody may know something I don't. If so, I'm sure they will post any information for you. The weight might help indicate
  22. Without seeing any pictures then its impossible to tell
  23. It is closer to the crown Dave, 2nd bust as I stated above! You need to buy a copy of Marsh if you're gonna start to play with sovs. You will find all of the identifiers that Spunk can't be bothered with in there. I have a 1st edition Marsh but didn't see it
