  1. Nothings better than a book im the hand Debbie. Granted some cost more than others, but this comes with the territory. I want a few more myself, but bought another the other day which i won't need again, the John Brooker Shilling book (charles I) that is.
  2. I recently purchased quite a few from "someone i know" (shady eh) Basically he had a lot and kept offering just before and after xmas and recently as a few weeks ago. I've probably bought 90% of what he's thrown at me and out of them sold about 90% or in the process of doing so. I've hopefully kept the good stuff which has now basically cost me nothing, about 7 coins in total out of perhaps 100..........I'm still mulling over what to do with the Commonwealth Crown, so yes, i've spent a wedge just recently. The most on 1 coin so far has been €1500
  3. Product not found.....
  4. I have a little ultrasonic cleaner that i sometimes use with hot water and place the coin in. I use olive oil for my pennies if any have any spot verd, so in order to clean the oil off this is what i use.

  10. You are mistaking 125,000€ for the actual price of €125,00 (that one hundred and twenty five euros) not ( one hundred and twenty five thousand euros) You only Need to look ar the €10 tax to see that its €125 Wakey wakey
  11. Lol.....a Homer Simpson moment there
  12. Because he can list HIS coins for what he wants, whether anyone would buy them is another matter.
  13. I think you'd Need a few more stamps to shift the elephant peter
  14. Try looking for Kurt Jaeger book. He's basically Germanys eqivilent of Spink, i don't know if he goes back that far, i have one from 1871- to present, but i'm sure there's one for previous to that date. It will be in German though i assume.
  15. thank's for info, they are alderny coins limited to 500, set of two cased, was interested in the as they are ten pound coins, but the guy is asking over 400 quid for them,so think ill pass them by. £400 compares with what the Royal Mint (who make these on behalf of Alderney) charge (Royal Engagement Alderney £10 65mm Silver Proof £375 +p&P) But then you would need to find another collector of such things to get back your money. As a contrast a silver Brittania coin (1oz silver) costs £58 or so but at scrap value of silver is worth £15. So you're paying an awful lot for the design. Now I'm aware that's the same case for most coins. The cost of what I collect (shillings of Charles I) is vastly more than the value of the silver the coin is made out of. I'm paying for the history. But there are more people who collect coins that have circulated and used to buy things than there are who collect the sort of commemorative pieces we're talking about here. In the end, if you like something and want to collect it, go ahead. Just remember, you'll need to find someone else who likes these to have a chance of getting back your money. I just didn't want you to think that you were buying something people will be queuing up to buy off you, or that will aquire value due to scarcity. The price of silver is, like gold, at an all time high right now and you'd be buying at that peak. again thanks for the input, the person selling the coins dose state for just over 440 quid there are two coins and they are 5oz each would that be 65mm You'd be better of spending your £400 on a Gold Sovereign or something with a bit of history behind it. I'l agree with others here, you'll never get your money back of these modern coins, you could in fact buy 7 or 8 Britannia coins for that money.
