  1. Got a Baldwins email about some stock they had and liked the look of the 1693 Halfcrown, so do a little checking. www.coinarchives.com/w/lotviewer.php?LotID=3625932&AucID=3706&Lot=47&Val=99d4371418e4683fe40a773e1309988c www.baldwin.co.uk/product/1693-william-and-mary-halfcrown-about-ef-toned/?contact_eid=042ac6f0-c1af-46b0-a6d4-a398304bfedd&_bta_tid=05179393705476431787335921333614881508332092846598852493377226602192321388511471087052853462718343530835#tab-description
  2. If you aren’t happy with a coin then it’s always better to let it go and move on. Hopefully you found the experience helpful for future purchases. We learn though mistakes and knowledge
  3. Before you send it back i'd still be interested in seeing a picture of the whole coin.....
  4. Seems a fairly recent video, but hammered gold and silver was getting dug up in this field
  5. Thats what i thought as the fields didn't look proof at all
  6. This would be how i'd perceive a proof to look like
  7. Looking at the field of the Queens side, it doesn't look like a proof field to me, do you have a picture of the entire coin, as i said before, it doesn't look cleaned, more poorly handled, i notice you asked the same question on thesilverforum too ☺️
  8. I would think that copying is much like copyright, the Queens head is an official figure so therefor cannot be used willy nilly on a coin, permission would have to be granted, same goes for the REV is using a design from a previous type coin, so in summary, perhaps some royalties are paid, and therfor countries are happy for these designs to be used in these cases, you shouldn't just think it's been used however they please which is where i think you're coming from. Couple that with the fact the Queenies effigy is done by IRB i think it's unlikely that it's just been thrown together by a mint. Niue Silver Coins A tiny country in the South Pacific Ocean with a population of just 1,600, the island of Niue lies 1,491 miles northeast of New Zealand within the triangle formed by Tonga, Samoa and the Cook Islands. But despite its small size, Niue has recently emerged as a big player on the world's collectible coin market – releasing 99.9% pure silver coins with officially licensed designs that feature everything from the classic Star Wars characters to Disney favorites like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Cinderella.
  9. I don't have the coin in hand, i took that from a website selling the coin, but as you also mentioned Una and the Lion
  10. Those aren't cleaning marks, those are from poor handling
  11. So after reading the EIC website, their blurb reads..... we can call it a tribute coin and not restrike as i mentioned, my bad The East India Company is pleased to announce the release of the third coin in this uniquely popular series. Struck in exceptional proof quality, the reverse side of the silver one ounce pieces features a detailed depiction of the classic Chinese dragon in the centre, surrounded by the text: “THE EAST INDIA COMPANY”, the denomination and a traditional oriental patterned border. Engraved with a uniquely patterned obverse which includes an elegant effigy of HM Queen Elizabeth II created by British sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley, the 2019-dated Chinese Trade Dollar 1oz silver proof coins have a limited mintage of just 1888 presentation pieces and are the first coins in the collection struck with this year date. A lasting tribute to a currency born out of commerce and trade, The East India Company’s 2019 Chinese Trade Dollar is part of a five-coin series and is certain to stand out as one of the collection’s most admired pieces.
  12. If you look to the right and the word "Hersteller" in German meaning manufacturer, tell me what it says, so yes, the UK needs to respect other cultures, yet throughout the ages never have. 😉
  13. Didn’t realise Heaton did the dies, interesting
  14. It’s a restrike of the trade dollars, there’s 5 in the series in Gold proof, silver proof and BU. 288 mintage for the gold 1888 for the silver proof and 10k for the BU
  15. This design was dire, i really liked the QB Red dragon though, and also this one attached
  16. I don’t keep tabs on pennies so I can’t say, but I thought it may interest someone
  17. 1827 for sale at Baldwins https://www.baldwin.co.uk/product/1827-george-iv-penny/?_bta_tid=23981765045476431787335921338632720270556357552051629960382536157447520619660131161405776514105221878280

  19. Very true, but if you are actually telling them what it is on the submission form then they have a good place to start and reference the coin
  20. I had to ask twice at PCGS to add die letter A on the halfpenny I had, they again had it labelled as a normal halfpenny, after 2 phonecalls it was eventually labelled properly. This is one reason i’m Glad NGC are here in Munich, I can at least talk my grievance over in person, hopefully if they do this on a full time basis then the process will get easier, but they obviously need more than just a Krause book to look at when going over British coins.
  21. I’d only scrolled through 5 pics, the OBV being the last coin obviously 😂
  22. You do realise that they re-released the Kew garden with a 2019 date don’t you? Although saying that, he is showing pictures of a 2009, but year of manufacture is 2019, so he is being a little economical in the description. I guess he is hoping no one checks the full listing
  23. Yep just read the text, it’s a lot more underweight than the pictures would suggest
  24. Looks real enough to me, just worn but a rarer date
