  1. No EM coins either... No Stephen, and worst of all not one AEthelred coin!
  2. Sly, You sound like Yoda from Star Wars. intentional it was.
  3. I'll confess i'm a one finger typist. And i remember when i went to junior school they only had about 3 computers in the school, all had those great big foppy 5" disks!!! Ah the memories, also no internet, and in Y6 only one person in our year had a CD-Rom computer. That's ten years ago now, and ten years on most people (myself included), would be lost without one.
  4. Reincarnation? Hmm i dunno exactly, i might be inclined to think some might reincarnate, but i'm kinda hoping it's not what happens cos i don't want to be here when the world ends. In the words of Terry Pratchett, 'whatever you believe happens to you after death, is what happens'. So if you convince yourself you're going to Hell, you'd better watch out. If you've convinced yourself that your going to Hades, prepare to be bured with a coin for the oarsman.
  5. Arlihgt tehn, ingroe my aobve psot! Grammar rearrange we should do, always nice to main verb at end put.
  6. ??? reincarnation Oli, some people believe when you die you are reborn. Not necessarily as a human being though, sometimes as another species, the classic example is the tree.
  7. Correction: Our coins are alike, aren't they? hmm a person who's fussy about grammar, i'm going to have to pull you up too when you make a mistake, you will do, it's only a matter of time... (don't bother pulling mine up, you'll be here all day).
  8. i'm currently saving up for a coin, Spink can wait.
  9. I was just looking at it from a philosophical point of view.
  10. yes i'm afraid i was Chris! Dissssspicable.
  11. it's alot easier to focus on anything from the Iraq situation, to how long the roadworks at the end of the street have been there though, is it not?
  12. You know Dave you could turn Chris' argument on its head and say that focusing on Earth's problems is a way of escaping the bigger picture of the universe, and the fact that none of us really understands it, regardless of how many scientists write books stating one thing, there's always another scientist that comes along and disses everything the previous generation held true.
  13. Perhaps this is a good time to point out that the Master has just broken one of his own rules that he laid down for everyone. Though shalt not swear?
  14. i don't have a spink either.
  15. i don't think 'fan' is the right word.
  16. Well taking the pessemistic route, humans would only destroy another planet if they got on one, so i kinda hope they never do. Secondly i don't think we should be worrying about the sun dying as it's a long way off. Now if reincarnation is what really happens after death, then you'd better be worried, in a few million life times we'll be sat here on the future version of predecimal.com collecting those ancient euro coins from 2179, (except for Oli who'll have come back as a tree)... I don't think our solar system can offer us much hope, but we can aim to find out about next doors, afterall the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Anyhow i've got things to do can't sit here contemplating astronomy all day.
  17. no. i've got a William III halfcrown that's been counterstamped, was a 1697, now it's a low condition 1697 with counterstamp, and selling it i'd be shocked if anyone paid much more than £10 for it.
  18. i've been giving away 1977s cos you just can't sell them, 1965s are twice as bad cos they are not just as common but they are also ugly.
  19. Stephen, actually you might just be able to see the 'S' if you look hard enough, not very clear, but if you look to the left of the portrait (if you've found that... it took me a while actually ) look to the left you'll see a '+' above that should be the remnants of the 'S', i can't think of any other kings we've had beginning with S.
  20. ive been trying to destroy all those...
  21. Till then the star of my collection will be this...
  22. Charles I wouldn't do it for me, Charles II would though. kinda like this... (my baby is that... ) Dunno i'm not into hammered sixpences (yet), any sixpence with a date between 1674 and 1787 and i'm positively drooling. Those after 1816 i just kinda smile. Medieval hammered gold (not the crowns/unites/rayls and god knows what of the later hammered period). But nobles down to quarter nobles, and possibly on a good day angels do me quite well...
  23. i like the other reverse they had with the 19 and the 37 separated.
  24. i've got two scars on my head, one from running into the kitchen so fast as a young en and bashing my head on the corner of the cabinate the second was from spinning around until i got really dizzy, tripped and went head first into the radiator... owch. Must have been 3 or 4 when i did all that.
  25. without the corrosion i couldn't have afforded it, it would have been way up there.
