  1. Well, what are all the types?
  2. I have just been flicking through the pages on the Dr. Nicholson Collection, and i came to 1957 where it says "(For the super-specialist who is aware that there are four sub-varieties for the Calm Sea variety, this one has a Pointed 7 pointing directly at a bead, which is the commonest of the four sub-varieties.)". A while back, I was given a tin which was (and still is) full of 1957 and 1958 halfpennies... I was wondering what these 'four sub-varieties' are, and what their rarities are...
  3. I might want it, but i am not 100% sure if i am going to it yet...
  4. Maybe it is just a normal 1937 then
  5. I have 1950 and 1951 proof farthings. The toning on this 1937 one is roughly the same as that on the 1950 and '51 i have...
  6. Oops, i forgot that bit...it was Chris who sold it to me
  7. Quite a while back, I bought a 1937 farthing described as 'ABU'. Since then i have started to notice that it is starting to tone like that of a proof coin. I am now quite sure that this is a proof coin, but how can I be definate?
  8. Amazing...absolutely amazing..."clean and bright"
  9. "Queen on back etc..." "Silver in colour"...sounds worrying to me
  10. And another one ...page 87, The Tenpence (continued): on previous page it is Ten Pence (a space is required between Ten and Pence
  11. Another typo ...page 7, 1856 P1603 mintage figure: 913,9200. I think, for its high value, that you have put one too many 0's on the end
  12. They are all very nice...one thing, the 1901 picture is not working
  13. Those scratches look suspicious. If you notice, there are at least five or six quite visable scratches on the blank side, whereas there are none that i can see on the reverse. If that coin was to have been purpously rubbed down to its blank, a few scratches would occur when not done with accuracy. But I cannot say whether it is real or not...it looks convincing.
  14. Yep, merry christmas all. It has been a very fun year
  15. I prefer your King Henry III Long Cross penny out of them three
  16. One of the reasons why i will hopefully not go any further back than 1613 with my collection Edit: Oh, and welcome Millimoo
  17. The london coin show is quite good (from what i have read). I know that Chris and HPJ attend, and I will hopefully be going also whenever the next one is.
  18. How far do you plan to go back?
  19. Yes, hello again william
  20. I'm hoping to find some BU 1925-29 farthings as this is the largest gap in my 1918-1956 farthing set so far. After that i also hope to expand on George II farthings...i have seen how cheap they can be after getting a quite lusterous 1758/7 sixpence from ebay for a mere £10. It is the 1750's that i hope to have completed by the end of next year. As for more things, I will probably find my self within the expencive Victorian bronze series, which is my favourite set of farthings so i do not wish to rush getting through them.
  21. Thats a lot of books sold so far. Maybe WHS will finally appreciate the books
  22. Thats quite a nice 1887 Half Sovereign. Its a pitty that the 1871 Sovereign is slabbed though, i am sure that that is nice for its price
  23. And the government is trying to modernise britain with these newer styles of architecture. But who exactly are they modernising it for? I agree that older architecture was far better, as with old coinage
  24. You'll get there eventually
  25. I finally have found a 2004 £1 in my change, it has the forth bridge on the reverse
