  1. Me too. There is a line that can be crossed.
  2. Oh yeah- dressed as a unicorn? I couldn't stay for the hammer to come down - I had Lord Lucan popping round to tell me how much he got for Shergar....
  3. I was second bidder on the Edward penny. Then I woke up....
  4. I cannot believe that people believe the CGS picture to be real!!!! They would spend all that money based on that ??? I'm stunned by the contrast between that and the pic of the actual coin. Stunned.
  5. Well, If I wanted to practice filling a dent in copper or bronze with a braze, I'd put a dent in a penny, and have a go.
  6. I'm with Rob on this- looks like a practice braze. The fill metal looks to me to be a different alloy, as a braze filler rod would be. The brazer didn't use enough flux either, or didn't clean the penny properly, or didn't apply sufficient heat.....
  7. Is it just me, but every time someone on Ebay lists an Edwardian coin, and describes it as "KEV11", I can't help wondering whether we ever had a 'King Kevin the Second' ....
  8. I sat on my lathe this morning and gave myself a nasty turn....
  9. I still say it's a Garden Wolf, from that single picture. - even if a picture doesn't show the markings, the front legs are a guide.
  10. That looks like a Garden Wolf to me....equally horrid.....
  11. Stares into camera: "Mine, I tell you, mine!!!!!!" FADEOUT. So ends the tale of the half-crazed completionist that lurks inside _all_ members of this website......:)
  12. I'm having real trouble coping with that penny. My coin envy meter needle is pegging the top of the scale.
  13. You learn fast, Grasshopper.....
  14. I was the second bidder on the F41- always the bridesmaid.....
  15. Ah.. thanks for that. If that clause didn't exist then the proceedings would be farcical!
  16. Ah right- I was 850, but an absentee. Does this mean that If I had bid, say 851, then I have got second on the grid?
  17. I was second bid on 1994 - the Freeman 76. I'm glad I didn't attend, if reports (above) of how the auction is handled are true....
  18. Archie Piscopal ran a pub in Dulwich in the 1980's if I remember correctly...
  19. Thanks Richard - I was the 'room bidder'...nearly there and in the ball park. Any more plus premium and i would have had to sleep in the shed....... Again.
  20. Does an Ebay agreement have a Sanity Clause?
  21. Or, email the picture to yourself, selecting the image size so your received email from you has a picture below .5Mb!
  22. is that yours Pete?
  23. Oh thank you Richard. If I win, it'll be the best sixteen quid I've ever spent. What??
  24. I tried to keep up standards by also including a plural compound noun....:) As a certain N. Molesworth said: A tool shed is where you keep tools A bike shed is where you keep bikes. A watershed is where you keep water.
  25. EXACTLY!!!! Pete, that's my punchline taken away, and I don't care...!
