I have searched for 19th century tokens but cant find it. I was wondering if it was a love token of some kind, as having so much wear. its as thin as a worn hammered penny.

Thanks guys for the replies, I thought it may have been the top of a riding crop or walking stick, but the rev does have some sort of design on it, not clear on a scan. There is a branch or leaves to the rim of the coin/token on rev.

  21. Hiya all found this a few years ago. Half crown of York 10.5 gm. It is said uncertain half crowns were made by inferior and sometimes by exceedingly unskilful, workmen I don't think this was, but who made it ? any ideas.

  24. Charles l York half crown. Would have been a lovely coin if it wasn't so worn. Not sure of the grade.
  25. Sorry. ? Metal detecting is an amazing way of collecting coins. Coins that I would never have been able to afford. The double crown was found about 2005 on plough land, I had a 50/50 agreement with the farmer so had the coin looked at by mike vosper coins via internet who gave me a valuation of 600 pounds.. so even though it was found it still cost me 300 that was a lot of money to find for a coin. But finding it was such an amazing buzz.
