  1. I remember having such fun playing Quake 2 on the network at work (www.bromcom.com). My name used to be 'Shania Twain' for some reason, and when I got killed I would exclaim 'That don't impress me much!' much to the amusement of the people around me. When I did something awfully girly I would say 'Man, I feel like a woman'. (in the game of course) I do miss working with other people.
  2. The language looks Thai, or Burmese (somewhere around there). I don't think it's Indian. I'm sure someone with a Krause to hand will be along soon.
  3. Looks like a real one to me. You'll find that sometimes even really very old coins are very cheap Juan. By the way Juan, did you mean to be 'Unknown'?
  4. Thanks, I'll change that, but I've already sent a link to the proofreader, so I expect he'll spot it too! I have a version called draft2.dpf in the same location with updated prices. I have now incorporated all of the prices from you Custard, and the Rotographic database, as well as Williams Florins and Geoffs Half Crowns (Geoff if you're reading this I haven't forgotted about the 1908!) I just need to change a few more prices (Wybritt, Sylvester and Coppers) and we're away.
  5. But that would mean more pages, more cost, which may move it up to a similar price to the Coin Yearbook. It's an idea that cannot be ruled out though.
  6. By jove, i think you're right, I'll mention it.
  7. Yes, in fact I still have that one sitting beside me. I'll be delivering it personally (with some other stuff) in Early Nov.
  8. Blimey I didn't do it! I paid someone to do it: http://www.samwall.com
  9. That's ok I suppose, the tone isn't that pretty. I probably wouldn't go so high as GVF, maybe NVF/AVF. Edward VII Halfcrowns in my opinion are not difficult for 1910 or 1902.
  10. All the 92 pages are there now, and they're numbered as they will be in the book. There are no circles, no red text, and all that's left to do is run through the prices using the database etc and Mr Marles Prices, which should take a day or 2. Then its off digitally to one of my subscribers who happens to be a coin collecting professional proofreader! (he'll do it half price because of the subject matter!) In the meantime I'm going to take this version to the printers to hopefully get a couple of trial copies done so i know I'll be happy with them. As you can see in another recent post, the cover is completed. It's all coming together, and I must admit I'm a little excited. I also have a message to call the Waterstones buyer tomorrow, so hopefully they want tons of them! Feel free to spot any errors/problems with this if you can, bear in mind it's 8mb now: http://www.rotographic.co.uk/draft1.pdf (if that doesn't work, try copying it into a browser)
  11. No problem Coppers, I've removed the HTTP:// bit to make it non clickable. And that was the one I was thinking of.
  12. Influenced by you lot, this is probably what the cover will look like:
  13. I think Oli meant that the coins are slabbed by American companies (ie PCGS etc etc), which if your thinking of the same website that I have recently noticed then yes they are. I don't know of any British slabbing companies (I've heard of US, Canadian and Aussie). You can mention the website by all means, but as not to improve their search engine rankings, don't make the URL clickable! (wicked aren't I). If it's the same one I'm thinking of, I'm actually going to be buying a few of their coins for an investor customer soon. He may as well keep them slabbed, as even if they do look naff, it does help sell them to some people if the coins are 'Guaranteed'. Unfortunately for high grade expensive coins that may well be an increasing thing on the British coin scene. Perhaps the days of true collectors keeping hugely valuable collections in delightful wooden cabinets are waining.
  14. £50 if it's FDC then!
  15. Went to a Museum did it? I read the other 7 were all in museums.
  16. Steady on old chap, it probably won't be worth much more than £50 even if it truly is in mint condition. I hate getting peoples hopes up.
  17. With respect Julia, I hear words similar to that quite often from novice coin collectors and inquizitive people, and most of the time they are wrong and simply don't have the experience with that particular coin to be able to detect wear on it. Are you able to scan it, register here and then post a picture?
  18. Yes, you're both right, I'll change it. I just couldn't resist denouncing the bloody things and got carried away, but your right, I should remain neutral and just say it like it is!
  19. It's most likely to be worth it's gold bullion value (£26) unless it's in perfect as new condition.
  20. Thanks all. Yes this year certainly has had a lot in it.
  21. There is no doubt that onlinecoins.co.uk is one of the most popular coin websites, the proprietors idea of getting as many dealers together in one place and earning a commission off each sale is not much short of revolutionary in numismatic terms. So when he approached me about reciprical links I had to think hard about it, because after all onlinecoins is a rare breed (a capable and professional looking competitor!). We agreed that if he promoted my accessories I'd link to onlinecoins from my Coins For Sale area and at the same time get listed on onlinecoins as a guest dealer. Hopefully the arrangement will be beneficial for us both, and hopefully there will be other opportunities to join forces in the future. 22. Well this is ideal for counting berries, I use it myself: http://www.predecimal.com/collectors/shop/9849lens.htm
  23. Yeah, and what's this doing in Ancients! Moving.........
  24. But he means Obverse because the head side is always obverse.
