A Xmas present to myself arrived today

I've been looking for an upgrade to this one for years

Km1682Centavos1883A.jpg

Bolivia 2 Centavos 1883 A - a single year type with a mintage of just 250,000, The circulation coin is very hard to find, though the proofs are readilly available

this one has a couple of dings but a good EF with lustre, I doubt another will come along for a while

Km1682Centavos1883A2.jpg

Still looking for a German New Guinea 10 pfennig 1894A, and a French 10 centimes 1878K if any wants to add to my stocking

Merry Xmas everybody!

Wanted to get an early milled in high grade but didn't want to spend a lot of money. Hence this Hungary thaler. Looks impressive with a large diameter of 45 - 46mm.

Nice, really good eye appeal. Smitten. If you ever decide to re-invest this coin into an early milled then give me a nudge ;)

That has so much going on :)

I also like French coins pre 1792....there you go I've come out....Sols Ecu's give them to me.There is art in their coins and Jettons.

It's no surprise that we nicked a few of the French engravers at various times.

Probably the French coinage of the 19th and 20th century was superior in design to anything minted anywhere. Contentious. I know.

There was a half-decent engraver of Italian origin that I may have mentioned having a liking of though, I think he trumps the lot :)

The early Thalers are exceptional. There is a guy who collects mainly Austrian Thalers here: http://www.taleruniverse.com/the-taler-universe-collection/

I spent the morning watching coverage of the ceremony to honour the three French police officers, killed in the awful events last week

Then the postman brought this, I assume a discount token for 10 centimes, early 20th C, brass 30mm

jeton.jpg

Paris in happier times

David

Edit: Kermesse is the Paris Fun Fare, so probably a slot machine token
