Listings on Ebay with the same images!

Hi Al

I am bidding on a coin a 1948 penny, nothing special but a nice coin to replace a a basic one I have.

Here it is:

However, I noticed the seller also had a 1948 & 49 for sale too so that why not as both coins do look pretty nice. But when I looked closer

it is exactly the same 1948.

I had a look at his description and the seller states clearly to look at the coin in the photo and judge condition. Surely he can't have 2 identical coins. Therfore how can you judge!!

Would appreciate your thoughts and see if any of you have come across this before.

He's possibly added the wrong image for 1 of the coins. Email him and point it out so he can hopefully rectify it before someone bids

Lucido sells a LOT of pennies, although I've never personally bought from him I have no doubt it's just a mistake.

As Dave says just drop him a mail I'm sure he will clear things up

I have already sent him a private message. He stated that they are different coins but have the same colouring!!!! So have sent back a reply telling him they are one and the same coin.

Black dot on hair above ear and dot on the field at about 11 o'clock just off the head. Will tell you how I get on. I am bidding on both lots now!

If you look at the description, he has images of Both the 48 and 49 coins, Both OBV images are different, his main pictures in the listing Are the same

Both the 1948 coins shown in the 2 auction lots are the same coin. The 1949 coin is obviously different. The description state to look at the images and decide grade, etc.. For yourself. Obviously it is impossible to judge a coin if it is not the coin shown. That is my point.

I've had a similar problem a few years ago, where a bun penny was displayed with a earlier obverse that didn't match with a date. I contacted the seller asking him if he could check that both pictures displayed were of the same coin. He contacted me back and assured me that they were. It was therefore possible that this was a new die combination. Bids started to appear on this penny and I didn't want to miss it if it was something special. Knowing that other collectors had noticed the coin I decided to contact him again. I explained that I still believed that he had posted the wrong pictures and if I were to bid and won, and the coin turned out to be different to the coin pictured, I would want my money refunded in full. After this he removed the sale from Ebay and contacted me back explaining that he had in fact posted the wrong picture of the obverse. He obviously couldn't be bothered to check the first time, probably one of those people that wouldn't believe that he could make a mistake. (I hope that I have made no spelling mistakes or grammatical errors )
