lward1980 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 My husband found this coin when ploughing. After cleaning it up it looks like a two pence piece, however when I've looked I can't find one with such a large base on the bust. It also looks like it says II REX on the right side of the bust. It may only be a few years old but I can't find it anywhere! Quote
Michael-Roo Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Its a George III copper halfpenny. This type was produced between 1770 and 1775. Quote
Rob Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 It's George III and either farthing or halfpenny depending on the diameter. Given it will be corroded from being in the ground for so long, if the diameter is over an inch it will be a halfpenny, up to 3/4" will be a farthing. I suspect the former given a 2p is about an inch. Quote
