Nordle11 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 This came up on ebay this morning.. (picture attached) with no obverse, a title which said "1877 narrow date penny" and a description with not much else..He took it down and said it was an april fools joke, but where did the picture come from?Photoshopped? Nordle11 Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 Short answer - yes, he made it himself./end thread Quote
Coppers Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I like the description... "Nice Victorian penny with lots of lustre". A shame it could not have been left up a bit longer.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nice-1877-narrow-date-penny-/151637297519?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item234e49896f&nma=true&si=4ivIfi8rDUAef4CeF%252FjwYZICYHE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Quote
secret santa Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I am the guilty party - the picture was concocted on Powerpoint by copying and pasting the first 7 over the 5 of a F80 1875 penny. If you look carefully you can see the join. Because it was late at night and nearly the end of April Fool's Day, I didn't have much time to put together a clever description which would give the game away. Quote
Nordle11 Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 I preferred your nonchalant description for such a rare coin!I can see the join now Quote
azda Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Now i sold Eichard 1 or 2 of my old pennies. Welcome to the forum, your input here would be as valuable as Bernies. Quote
