Well I have a really good one that's going up soon. For all the reasons stated you normally have to make compromises depending on how deep your pockets are.

I think the one you already have is quite nice. Jolly good reverse from my inexperienced milled coinage perspective...

Hi Tom,

I really like Gothic's. Yes it's not bad, but it's not choice. Although the reverse is good. I have noticed that there are not as many in the higher grades around as a a couple of years ago.

Having said that I was the under bidder at a couple of auctions recently for a grade I wouldn't normally bother with. The coins just had such good eye appeal.

This one was in a DNW sale last year, described as EF or slightly better with a 150-200 estimate, i was interested until it reached the dizzy heights of 700 hammer

I take it you disagreed with EF then Dave?

Welcome.

Florins are not the easiest to collect if you want mint state pieces. If you do - then the best of luck. If you don't, you should do ok. :)

I want a mint state Godless and haven't seen one in the past 6 months. I thought I just wasn't looking hard enough.

There are so many coins that I would like to own that I can easily pass on something and get something else.

Florins have such wonderful designs that I like to see them near their best. A Julio-Claudian Sestertius that's lived in the ground for 2000 years, not as big a deal.

I have to admit that even I have a soft spot for florins. Gothics are beautiful, Vicky Old Heads are cool, Edward VIIs are one of my favourites and I have fond memories of the George VI ones. I miss seeing them in change.

Oh and welcome.
