ColourOD Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 My grandfather often gives me coins for my birthday, and as last year was my 21st he gifted me a jumbled assortment of small coins (one is a 1/2 groat which is in pretty bad condition, but is wonderful regardless~) and this rather large, rather heavy replica/medal of the Victorian £5 coin. (Unfortunately all my measuring tapes and rulers have just vanished from the house, so I can't tell you it's exact dimensions, but it's as big as the palm of my hand) I've attempted to look this thing up online several times to no avail, I can't find it ANYWHERE so I was wondering if any of you had any information on it?? I'd love to know how many were made and such Quote
Paulus Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) I expect it's one of these, sold at London Coins Auctions recently:Auction 146 Lot 1694 Fantasy or Imitation Una and the Lion a massive 85 mm diameter weighs 288 grammes and 9 mm thick BU and eye catching, in a presentation case Edited January 16, 2015 by Paulus Quote
mhcoins Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Its a reproduction of the UNA and lion but on a large scale, which i think are in either plated gold or plated silver. Sadly of no great value but looks like it could make for a good coaster Quote
copper123 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Not sure if these are even any use as a coaster Quote
