scott Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 remains of an earlier 41863 penny, with an extra bit going up from the loop of the 6 Quote
davidrj Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 That 1863 looks interesting Scott, can you post a bigger picture of the date please? Quote
Colin G. Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Certainly possible with the 1843 but would need much clearer pics to have any certainty. Quote
MACKSILKY. Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 On the 1843 varieties of the farthings, how rare are the 1843(I for ) variety? Quote
Colin G. Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 In my opinion extremely difficult to obtain, if you have one for sale I am definitely interested Quote
Nordle11 Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 6 over 7 maybe? A new variety as far as I can tell!Nice spot Quote
Rob Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 More likely 6 over displaced 6 or even a 6 of different size. Quote
MACKSILKY. Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Scott nice pic of the 6 on the penny, and colin just checked the 43 farthing and sorry no it's not the I for 1 in date. It's a md find in poor condition but clear date and scott this one i have is a clear 4 over 4 just like you have pictured above. Quote
Accumulator Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Really difficult to tell with the penny. There seems to be something going on with the 8 too? Possibly the die has been damaged around the date and caused the extra metal to appear? Quote
