Oscar Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Can anybody suggest an alternative to ebay (fees and postage becoming prohibitive) for selling scrap silver British coins in the U.K. please. These are very poor ,holes drilled, type coins. Thanks for any advice. Quote
Rob Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Depends on the quantity, quality (fineness) and where you are. If in a town or city with a few jewellers/scrap bullion dealers then you might get a decent price close to bullion but would have to shop around for the best deal. If you have to post it then that will reduce the amount people are willing to pay. If you are near a coin fair it would be possible to sell it to a dealer there. Next one coming up is at the Motorcycle Museum a week this coming Sunday, just off the M42 (A45 jcn). Most dealers will take scrap silver and gold if it isn't necessary to travel far. It all depends on what you have. Quote
TomGoodheart Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Online dealers are fairly simple, though you pay for the simplicity via the price they offer. These people offer better prices than I was able to find at high street 'gold dealers'. However, that said I've never used them, although I believe another member here has:hattongardenmetals.comObviously you'd want to check how their prices compare against spot and I don't know how it works with silver that isn't Brittania or sterling standard. scott Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I would have a good look at them first though, holed or otherwise might be a few rares in the earlier stuff. Quote
Colin88 Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I've sold a few times recently to Hatton Garden Metals...in my personal experience they are very easy to deal with, are consistently one of the top if not the top payers of the online bullion dealers (although they do have a large 5 storey building in Hatton Garden..so not some dodgy looking P.O box address)and the money is in your account on the day that they receive it. Matt and Gary the owners appear to be decent chaps too. Quote
