1848 penny overstrike?

Gentlemen can anyone shed a little light on my 1848 penny. I have this up for sale on E. Bay with more items in a general clear out sale, not happy with my original photos I decided to take more and my attention was drawn to the date where there seems to be an overstrike over the 8. Not having the benefit of Freemans and other such publications I was wondering if you have any comments and views. This is the best image I can get.

I agree with scott - it's most likel to be 8/7. That's a known variety, worth a little more than the regular issue, but not much more.

By the way, Freeman only covers bronze issues. Peck is still the main copper authority.

Definately 8/7 the down stroke of the 7 is quite visible through the 2 loops of the 8. Will you be selling it now

Agreed 8/7, it looks to be a Bramahs 10b; The 7 shows very plainly beneath the 8, the upstroke dividing the lower loop of the 8 into two unequal parts, The left being smaller.

The Rev would have either a single E in DEF or E/E, the second being scarcer.

Thank you all I shall be carrying on with the sale plus the added photos and infomation, is the E/E much more valuble? I dont wish to over exagerate its importance.

Certainly looks like it. Appears to be a real overstrike rather than a 'double bounce'.
