Hello17 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 i have a coin album which i keep some of my coins in, but whenever i turn the page a coin always seems mto just fall out, luckily i removed my valuable coins (my Ed the 1 silver penny and my 1674 farthing) before they fell out and got damaged. is this common with albums? You might like to consider storing them in a cabinet, lighthouse trays (or similar) or 2x2 flips with mylar windows (these are inert and would fit in an album with large enough compartments). Quote

I can only assume that it's a combination of micro variations in bedding size, coin size, and in the case of older albums, overuse caused by frequently getting the coin out to have a look at it. It's one of the reasons why I changed over from albums to a mahogany cabinet with trays. Quote

Peter Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 You can purchase 2 x 2 coin flips which fit into some coin album pages or simply store them in a box.The flips can be written on and give the coin some degree of protection.I think we all started with albums. You can buy them on this site. Quote

You can buy them on this site.You can buy ones which require stapling together but I would recommend the ones with self adhesive (you live and learn) Quote

Well worth a look in my opinion and well priced, the album is also a great product. You can buy them from Chris's shop on this site. You can also get optima pages that house 2x2 flips, so you can cover all bases. Quote
Peter Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 i think trays would be best for me. i have not put much in my album yet, could keep when i get trays and use for my least valuable coinsI use trays but they are not fool proof...hence my wife dropped (before decorating)4 trays of farthings and mixing all my varieties and tickets up.Try looking for an aluminium case which comes with 6 trays to take different coins.Very reasonable(£20 or £30) and the coins stay put (I use 2 of these)They also act as my chosen method of safely transporting coins.
