Guest pedros Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I have a mint condition £2 coin dated 1986 to commemerate the commonwealth games in Scotland, ie.Elizabeth on front, Thistle with date above on back does anyone know if it's worth anything? Pedros. Quote
RobJ Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 These coins are rather common and as there is low interest in Modern Decimal Issues unless it is in 'Mint' Condition, ie, in a Royal Mint Year Set or Royal Mint Commemorative Issue Pack, then it will only really be worth face value. If however it is a 'Mint' Specimen it may be worth around 2 to 3 times face value. As long as it is in its original packaging. Quote

Pedros. There are at least two silver versions of this which are worth more (though not a fortune lol). One is 50% silver, the other is sterling silver. Then there are proof versions too, which are worth three to four times what the ordinary one is worth. Quote
