azda Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Wondering what my fellow collectors think of this one. Bought this a while back, 1853 Penny and was just having a wee looksy at it and found what looks like a B/B in Britanniar, i say looks like, but in the hand its more like a definate to me, the curve of the B has another curve underneath, and inside the B there is definately another strike there. Here's the picture, it's not the greatest unfortunately but i hope you can see what i'm seeing.Moi... Quote
azda Posted June 13, 2010 Author Posted June 13, 2010 I took the picture through a lupe, so if anyone has any tips on how to photograph an extreme closeup i'd be happy to listen. Quote
RLC35 Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Azda,That's a re-punched B alright! It also looks like the A might be re-punched. Quote
azda Posted June 13, 2010 Author Posted June 13, 2010 Both ²A²s looked the same way, i'll see if i can upload that. Quote
azda Posted June 13, 2010 Author Posted June 13, 2010 Here's another picture with the "A"s side by side Quote
azda Posted June 13, 2010 Author Posted June 13, 2010 The O in Victoria seems to have been repunched also Quote
RLC35 Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 They did a lot of rework on the Victorian Dies! There are some interesting mis-alignments. Quote
scott Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 yea can find a fair few repunches and broken lettering in the copper series Quote
Peckris Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Repunched legends and dates are extremely common scott, as you know. It sometimes seems to me it would be harder to find Vic copper WITHOUT any signs of it! Quote
