Hi,

Is anybody out there computer literate enough to explain why messages in my inbox appear with content readable for the most part, but when I receive notifications from Spink and a couple of others there is always a blank screen with the AVG message at the bottom. The size of file doesn't appear to be the reason as a 5k or 5M file both come up yet a recent Spink notice didn't but was only 224k.

Any ideas?

What is AVG telling you in the message ? It sounds like its blocking it or the content.You'll know AVG is your Anti Virus guard , sometimes it can be over protective , more so if you havnt adjusted the settings which most people never do.

A bit like email , often your email provider will block the content of an email , whether it be photographs or html , theres always an option to open it anyway.

I have got AVG but never experienced what you describe, It might be worth dropping thier teckkies a line,

AVG updates daily so could be a simple coflict between existing programmes and the update, I have emailed them in the past and they usually respond within 24 hours.

The same thing happened to me with a series of emails that were forwarded by a friend. The content of the original message featured a banner logo, then nothing beneath that.

HOWEVER, when I experimented with trying a Reply to the message, the Reply mail (which I have set up to include my reply plus the original message) suddenly showed the missing content! So, if you try to Reply to the Spink messages, does the original appear? (You may need to change your Preferences to "Show original message in my replies" or whatever the wording is in your emailer.
