Hi again

This coin is graded at AU53 approx. on other forum (US standard). What do you think about UK grade - EF or less than EF? There is many many luster on both sides.

The reverse looks nice but I detect cleaning on the obverse with all those tiny hairlines.It would appear the coin has been whizzed (an American term for unscrupulus cleaning)

Correctly graded it would be less than EF but the value of the cleaning has probably brought it down by a grade & a half....I would doubt any reputable grading company would slab it.

Still it is an attractive coin.

Yes, I would partly agree. There are many hairline scuffs on the obverse, though the tone is quite good (i.e. you can't tell it's been cleaned from the tone). Also there is a little too much wear on the hair and tie bands to be EF. The reverse is clearly EF IMO, and attractive.

I'd personally grade the coin GVF/EF with lustre and attractive tone. But you'd have to mention the scuffs if you were selling.

They look like genuine scratches, so for me no the photo shows no evidence of cleaning. To be honest not far off EF, although these late Young Head 2/6ds are often poorly struck so once again would need seeing in the hand.

Nice coin which I'd grade as NEF/EF, with the reverse being marginally the better.

The three lions show what looks like some very slight wear, but this may be due to a soft strike. Not sure.

I don't think the coin has been cleaned either. I've noticed that cleaned coins tend to have many, many hairline lines, all going in one even direction. The scratches on the coin shown are not overly numerous, and they look random.

As ever, it's all up for debate, and I may be wrong, as may others.
