Rob Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 hi i was wondering if there are any keen walkers on this forum BURPALOT Yes. I routinely walk to the pub and back every Thursday night for a game of darts. Quote
Peter Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Johnny Walkers for me ...but a whole bottle leaves me..........quickly. Quote
TomGoodheart Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 (edited) I like walking (unless that too is some youtful way of saying something totally different...)I walk to work most days (well - the ones I actually go to work) - 40 minutes to an hour, depending on which route I take, but hiking.... done it a bit but I like some company to share the sights with. Nothing too heavy - strictly a daysack and 'approach' shoes man (- and preferably a nice hostelry at the end of the trip!!)I find it very meditative - kinda my chill out time. (Plus the fact that I am walking is a useful way of me checking that I'm not so chilled out I'm dead..) Sheffield's a good walking area burpalot - well, the Peaks. I also like the area South a bit towards Derbyshire - Matlock's nice. Edited February 9, 2006 by TomGoodheart Quote
Peter Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Walking is just too slow for me.I would hate to be 5 miles into a walk and still 5 miles away from a destination.I like cycling and most weekends (spring to autumn we go on pleasant cross country trips)....In East Anglia we have the advantage of it being fairly flat. The hostelry bit I like also. burpalot Posted February 10, 2006 Author Posted February 10, 2006 i like the peaks and derbyshirei do most of my walking there. Quote
Jamesred Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Only walking i ever done was with the metal detector, must have walked some miles then.......I was out at the weekend there and found an axe head!! Cumbria is a great place to walk though, lots of pubs to stop off in the countryside. Quote
