Citizen H Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Following on from a recent post that was about Rupees, I revisited my hoard of Empire Coins and thought this would be worthy of a share, a Victorian 1886 Canadian 5 Cents that has a date No' 8 below the main date No' ...how did this happen ? Quote
Coys55 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 It's certainly strange, but I wonder if it really is an 8 and not something else. FWIW I think that the top 8 has a smaller top loop (as expected), but on the lower one both loops look equal size. Quote
Coinery Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) If I were ever to collect world coins, these Empire coins of India would definitely tick the box! Especially when you think about how far back the British/Indian ‘relationship’ goes through the East India Company! Edited 3 hours ago by Coinery 1 Quote
Sword Posted 48 minutes ago Posted 48 minutes ago I used to have a few when I first collected as a teenager. The Victorian rupees were much more affordable than the British version. It was a cheaper way to the the young head and the gothic head. If I collect empire coins again, I would want a Straits Settlements dollar. Both the reverse and obverse are very nice. Quote
