Ok well here is one I’ve shared in the distant past but may be of continuing interest. What date do you make out and what happened?

I have my thoughts but just putting it up here:

Not letting me quote and post, so just answering.

 

I'm tempted to say 1843.

Seeing the obverse could possibly dissuade me from that temptation.

I think I can see a faint 4 could the die be damaged and silver moved into the crack, .......? please show the obverse.... really like these finds👍

I too am having some troubles posting but do not have an obverse photo at the moment. On a blowup, the third datal (digit) looks at least to my eyes to be an upside down 5 over 4???

Definitely a 4 over or under something - upside down 5 seems possible but what a mess they made of that digit.
