Emperor Oli Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Is anyone else having trouble logging on?Last night I couldn't...today at work no probs...but no luck again tonight. Same here, at 2221 it still won't open. The server seems to be riddled with problems lately. Quote
Sylvester Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 My internet speed is running like a snail as it is... coinpeople would finish it off. I'm having real difficulty accessing my Hotmail account too. 13 attempts thus far, it just keeps freezing, haven't been able to get on properly for months. Quote
Geordie582 Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Nope! Just tried the site again for the third time and it's still off. Something major??? Quote
stujoe Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 It's been under some server attacks but hopefully that is being taken care of. Quote

Peter Posted April 26, 2005 Author Posted April 26, 2005 Stujoe suspected Austrian Hackers.. .Obviously the snow has melted and the auditions for "The Sound of Music " have closed. Quote
krasnaya_vityaz Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 (edited) The problems at Coinpeople have aggravated me to the point at which I am not looking at it as often as before. I am not a patient person, and waiting waiting waiting is not in my equation. So here I am, at pre-decimal, and even over on the Spanish speaking Numismata.org, where I need to stir up some interests. Sylvester Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Patience is a virtue, one i have seriously not grasped... that and my internet is running slow and costing god knows what by the minute (pay as you go now!), that i'm not venturing back there till i know what's going on with this internet malarky. Master Jmd Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 All coinpeople members should have recieved this email yesterday:"Greetings CoinPeople.com Member,A technical problem causing some users not to be able to log into or navigate the site properly has been discovered and resolved. This issue mostly affects AOL and some other large ISP's that use proxy servers. If you have had problems navigating the site recently, please try again now and see if the issue has been resolved. If you are still experiencing problems, please email me or post in our Technical Support Forums and we will look into the problem.Thank you,CoinPeople.com"...so, it looks as though the problem has been sorted out Quote
stujoe Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 That email issue was mostly related to AOL, CS and some other large ISP users and not to the attacks (which I appear to have alleviated by re-inforcing my firewall).Believe me, I never expected a little hobby site like mine to grow to the proportions that it has and I am quite obviously learning as I go. Managing a dedicated linux server and protecting it from hackers and just generally keeping it running without incident has been a learning cure, that is for sure. I don't recommend running a site like cp to anyone who has a family, a full time job, etc, etc, etc! Quote
Sylvester Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 ...I don't recommend running a site like cp to anyone who has a family, a full time job, etc, etc, etc! Running CP is a full time job Stu! Wonder, did it take over as your full time job without you noticing? Quote

stujoe Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Fortunately, 99% of the time it doesn't seem like work and it is still fun. Especially now that I added a couple of more leaders. But when there are server problems, I do lose a little more hair. Quote
stujoe Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 You're lucky! I have none to lose!! I will be there soon enough. I don't have that much left. Got a good look at what my future is when I shaved my head to go to the desert. Quote
kuhli Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Got a good look at what my future is when I shaved my head to go to the desert. I hear you, StuJoe. I got tired of waiting for the inevitable, and started shaving my head daily. Now, instead of having to look forward to baldness with dispair, I can now look forward to retiring the razor, which is a more optimistic outlook for the future. Quote
