My copy of Freeman notes:

"*New 1911 die pairings and variants of 1920 and 1924 exist, please see appendix IV"

However, appendix IV skips from 1911 to 1970 with no mention of 1920 and 1924.

Either I'm missing something, or the book is. Can anyone provide me with the details please?

Cheers,

Jon

Cheers Ian, I thought it was probably me!

Not variants I need to be looking out for then...

Indeed not Jon, but Dr Basil Nicholson certainly had a great collection😀

I wonder if he's still around? Looked to be getting on in the CC sale photograph in 2004. Yes, great collection.

I find Nicholson's/CC's catalogue very handy, there are a lot of interesting comments and provenances in it and importantly Lee still has the pictures on the CC website. There were a couple of bloopers that I spotted but otherwise great. My copy is currently a pile of loose leaf pages, due to it's falling apart under frequent use!

Yes, I remember that sale and have saved the catalog even though I don't collect halfpennies especially. I did manage to get the nickel 1920 pattern, and I think either the 1869 or 1871??

I like it as a reference.
