Budgie584 Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Hi, Completely new to this game but have kind of fallen completely for this as a hobby! I have no old coins to speak of, mainly ones I have picked up from my travels (a few post Euro) and a few English very recent coins that pictures on but am hoping to pick up any help, tips and tricks to get me started properly. Many Thanks, Budgie. Quote
Paddy Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Welcome to predecimal coins! The people here are pretty good at helping you out with anything you find in the way of British Pre-decimal and Decimal coinage, so we look forward to your queries. First advice is to get a good book to support your search. Those advertised in the banners on this site are a good starting point and very good value. If you get more specialised we can recommend others to cover specific areas in more detail. 1 Quote
jelida Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Welcome Budgie. I would certainly echo Paddy’s advice, and don’t be in a rush to buy the first coins you see, learn so that you can make informed decisions, and don’t be afraid to seek second opinions on this forum. If you are close to a coin fair, treat yourself to a day out. This is a super hobby, follow what appeals to you personally and decide on an approach to collecting. You could be hooked for the rest of your days! Jerry Quote
