Michael-Roo Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 (edited) It being one of the hardest to find of the series I thought fellow fans of early milled copper may be interested in seeing this. I rarely buy coins these days, and almost never from Ebay, but I'd noticed it listed at the weekend and, knowing how seldomly these are offered for sale, decided to have a pop. The coin came with the original owners ticket. Does anyone here know anything about Lord Waltham or the 1941 sale mentioned? You'll see too The Farthing Specialist (John Minshull?) had graded it in the 1970s as 'very good fine'. This seems a little generous these days, however, as my winning bid was only £31.01 (far below my maximum), I'm very happy with it. Apologies for the crappy photos. I don't have the iPad at the moment so have had to use my phone. Edited April 12, 2018 by Michael-Roo 4 Quote
Rob Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Spink weren't doing sales in 1941. That will be a purchase from the Circular. Quote
Michael-Roo Posted April 12, 2018 Author Posted April 12, 2018 Thanks Rob. And any idea who Lord Waltham was when he was at home? Quote

This damaged specimen realised £400 hammer at LCA five years ago. 1 Quote
copper123 Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 Wow date really clear on that one - pity about the damage Quote
pokal02 Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 I spotted one of these at an antiques fair about 15 years ago @ Alexandra Palace once priced at £8 (it was about F). I managed to haggle down to £7 and sold it for £50 on EBay (fairly cheap - F was £200 in Spink at the time). I'd completed a date collection of farthings (excluding proofs etc) in the 1980's but sold up in the early 90's to concentrate on higher denominations - remembered how rare this one was when I saw it. 3 Quote
