Rob Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 A Friday afternoon job. MA over FR, though the M is also blundered and entered twice, the G possibly with either a flaw or over the left side of an M, the following R made from a couple of misplaced Es which were reinforced to form the R and F of FR over an E. Apart from that it's fine. 4 Quote
Rob Posted January 17, 2018 Author Posted January 17, 2018 Sorry, that should be B after M and not R. Faulty operative. Quote
Coinery Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Not totally convinced about the underlying F in MAG, but my goodness what a series of misfits it is. Before reading your post properly I looked at the coin. I was thinking that the F (and I was going to ask the question) looked like the main body of the punch had been entered onto the coin as well, suggesting a very worn down (or filed down to repair???) F, a kind of shallow F on the punch, so to speak? I’ve never seen it before, so wondered whether that might also be another possibility? Quote

I suppose the F could be a filed down E. Edited January 17, 2018 by Rob Quote
