Guest Ryans382 Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Hey, im looking for some help, muself and my friend look for coins buy them and sell them on but we have come across a defect on a coin we have not seen before and we can find on the web. I know this coin is a doller but wondered if anybody has any info on it or how much it might be worth? I have attached a picture where it looks like the nose has been burnt as its been shaped and has a shadow? Thanks for the help in advance Quote
Rob Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 It won't add any value to the coin - in fact it is more likely to reduce it. It is a defect probably arising from impurity in the flan, but not a traditional error which is usually defined as design differences, either legend or portraiture, missing edge milling, double striking, off-centre strike etc Quote
Guest Ryans382 Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Ahh no way! I thought as it would be less common it would be worth more, thank you very much for your swift reply anyway you have been very helpful Quote
Rob Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 You can't equate rarity with price or desirability. I have more than a few unique pieces that would sell for a fraction of a perfect and thus desirable example. Blame the Daily Mail for planting this mindest in the public's heads 1 Quote
Oswald Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 For me, it looks like mechanical error, rather than a technical one. Quote
