I am finding it impossible to attach images.

Your image can be no more than 500kb in size, if you still can't attach it then use a hosting site such as photo bucket.com, after you upload the image there, copy and paste the img url into your post here

The person I got the coin from said the coin was in v.f grade

His opinion, your opinion and our opinion might not match, still need a picture

A 1913 penny in VF would cost somewhere between £2 and £5 to buy, I reckon.  Keep it if you like it and it makes you happy!

How much did you pay for it?

If you got it for free, then well done.

From you photo I am going to say it's better than VF but your photo is a bit grainy to pick up the fine detail but it looks to be in good condition. I reckon it's worth about what you did not pay for it maybe even a little bit more.l

£16 including postage  no great fortune

Its a better find than you think, there are four types of 1913 penny , Freeman 174 known as F174 Q.common] / F175  V.scarce / F176 V.rare / and F177 the most common type. Yours is a F175, and not a bad find for the price, though its a shame its been cleaned at some time.     Terry
