Sleepy Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Has anyone seen coins crack like this before, they look like they are de-laminating , only effects one side. And thanks Non for showing me how to stich 2 photos together 1 Quote
Nordle11 Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Yeah got a few of them. Lamination errors like you say. I can't remember the exact cause, I think it's impurities within the metal (being one of them) and I imagine the striking process has something to say about it too. I like how the farthing is now growing hair 1 Quote
Nordle11 Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Here's a few of mine, although most of the lamination has come off already, some do retain it (like yours) if it's not been manhandled too much. 1 Quote
Leo Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Do you think that the scattered dents in this florin are the result of flan impurities, or is it more likely to be mechanical abrasion? (a cart having run over it) Either way it certainly detracts Quote
mrbadexample Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 To me it looks like some sort of corrosion, perhaps once treated? 1 Quote
Paulus Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Whatever the cause it looks very battered, and to be avoided! Quote
