I have the grading book arriving Tuesday, until then I'm a little unsure, if you don't mind me posting a few pics to check out people's opinions.

Cheers

Less than F this one although a key date.Plenty about like this for a couple of £.

The trouble with this one is that it was mentioned as a key date in the 60's hence thousands were stashed away.

Fine on the rev, maybe slightly better, less than F on the obverse

As Peter suggests, plenty of high grade examples available

It appears to be a problem-free high grade example, in aUNC - easy to find in this grade but not for £6 + change - and of course this is an auction with over a day to go, you cannot just buy it at the current price! :)

According to my book aUNC is recommended at £200, is this right?

Spink 2015 has it at £85 in full UNC - what book are you using?

Not at all, novices, and all and any questions, are extremely welcome!

You may be looking a guide prices for a proof, I would expect the circulating 1887 Jubilee head florin to be the first item listed in that section. My latest CCGB (2014) has it at just £40 in UNC

Edit: PS - ignore, and do not be intimidated by, the 'Forum God' nonsense - it's automatic after a certain number of posts ;)

There was another 1887 above the one I chose, had "Included with Gothic" under the Mintage title, this is going at £40 UNC, must be that.

Yes, that's the one, the one below will be the proof, far more valuable!

"Included with Gothic" simply relates to the mintage figures, which are given by year, not type / variety (or even the date on the coin!), back in the day

I'm glad Paulus has put you straight.1887 was a Jubilee year hence many hi grade silver coins exist (stashed). The coin hasn't seen much (if any circulation) but has many knocks.Anything up to £20 would be OK (ish).
