  1. If anyone can see a dot in that first image I need a Specsavers appt. But I've also returned more Ebay purchases than I've kept in the last year, often stupidly taking a gamble on poor quality images. I doubt I'll ever learn..... There's so much crap and too many morons selling on there. Most "errors" are post mint shed work but the sellers are convinced they are genuine. At least I've had no problem with refunds.
  2. If he's convinced, take his money and run..... ;-)
  3. But you can never be sure. So it all comes down to price and whether you can live with it - the not knowing - because if you ever want to sell it, any potential buyer (if you can find one) will also consider the damage. And it is damage so not worth much IMO. It has been on offer for a while with no takers.
  4. What's this chap on about? I can't see what he can..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371286783837
  5. I suspected it might have been a lunchtime prank at the RM. I'll ask him for a photo of the obverse.
  6. Maybe not the worst, but weird.....anyone know how this could have happened? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PENNY-ERROR-COIN-1948-BRONZE-STAMPED-WITH-1948-FARTHING-RARE-UNKNOWN-ORIGINS-/221722399360?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item339faf5280
  7. Yes.....the lettering and numerals look a bit thick, but compared to the 1970 it's not bad and much better than some of the 52's & 33's etc. Maybe there weren't many made as it's the first I've seen. Not to everyones taste, obviously!
  8. I can't find any literature mention of a 1967 proof penny......so is this a Pobjoy or similar job?
  9. Wow......some amazing pennies here; http://www.ebay.com/sch/UK-Great-Britain-/3394/m.html?item=171688864825&hash=item27f9742c39&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&_ssn=atlasnumismatics
  10. Yes Bernie, thanks.....some coincidence - a few minutes after I posted the request, I received Davids list! hopefully it's already on it's way.
  11. I'm looking for a 1915 penny in lustrous UNC......and have been looking for a while.....preferably under £50 but would consider more for a top example. Not at all easy IMO, so if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.
  12. No, I'm not Neil. I've bought a few things from Gary as he's disposed of a few penny errors from his collection over the past few years. If he was the original source of my Lavrillier copy it might be worth asking him why such a difference in quality between that and some of his current offerings. Must be different private mints producing them.....but how many of these places exist?
  13. OK Dave, thanks. No one else have any clue?
  14. That's what I thought......but I've only seen web illustrations of (I assume) the genuine article to compare. I only paid 16 quid for this so know it can't be the real thing. Anyone know more about it please?
  15. Can someone please enlighten me as to who produced this Lavillier 1933 copy? When compared to the rubbish that Pobjoy makes, this one is really lovely, with proof like fields and crisp definition to the engraving.
