I'm not well versed on silver or even this era but as it's nearly a third of the weight lighter than it should be and because of it's orientation I reckon you might want to have a chat with the seller.

I always enjoy looking at brg5658's photos of his conders.. They always look great, especially with the section at the bottom. (example attached) The daylight here is too bright for coin pictures, it almost dampens the lustre, so I prefer the artificial light. Normally the sunlight is the best though, or a combination of the two. Nice, big, squared off pictures like your first, Paulus, are great. When I'm buying a coin, that's the sort of thing I want to see..

+1 Thanks Bob, when they took it down I did ask about it and they said that they "..had received significant interest in it and decided to take it down to be slabbed first" which is pretty annoying, just fishing for a little extra money. No harm in slabbing it, just list it on eBay after you've done that.

Don't buy it, I bought that and returned because it was cleaned.. When I get to a laptop I'll send you a link to a seller on eBay, they recently unlisted one so they could slab it and it is easily one of the best strikes I've seen. Maybe have a chat with them and see what their plans are.

Could it be people in the know overbidding to stop it being sold? Like you say, it's obviously a copy... And if I know that then someone spending 200 quid on it surely does?

As newish member to this coin collecting lark (compared to you codgers ) I found that going to places like Midland is a little over whelming, especially the first time round. The most coins I've seen in one room, and because it's all packed in it's very hustle and bustle and hard to keep track of where you've been and what you've seen. Many times I've found myself looking at the same coin I'd previously dismissed, purely because I thought it was a different coin! Having said that, I'm not one to shy away so I did find people on here who I knew would be there beforehand then went round to have a chat. Also echoing what Rob has said above, speak to the dealers because not only are they going to know better than you what they've got, but they'll have knowledge you don't and can help in a lot of ways. Watch out for Rob though, he knows more than he lets on haha

Completionists probably wouldn't touch anything with a counterstamp on it.. Counterstampists might, like you say, but probably not. The stamp just looks like someone messing around as opposed to something like "VOTES FOR WOMEN".

Small rim nicks don't bother me, but I know some people who cannot stand them! Entirely your preference, although as Rob says the value will be affected.

It's good that there are some GB coins over in Germany, there's f*** all here in Spain. They're Euro crazy here, that and bottle caps.. Do you find many over there or is it rare occurance?
