Thanks tom,yes I've had quite a few S - shaped love tokens,mainly Will 3,fair point about piercing,I guess when the coins were new the silver was pliable & easy to roll,maybe less bother than piercing.I don't see this as a love token though.

Hi folks,I found this rolled up James I Halfgroat,this obviously has been done on purpose & I've been informed that it was done so that coins could be strung up & perhaps worn in a more discreet area,away from any would be thieves. This seems a plausible reason,but,I've seen very few found,& this is the only one I've got,perhaps a lot of peeps straighten them as soon as they get home,not something I'm about to do btw. So has anyone any other theories ? Would be pleased to hear them. .

Yes they look like the sort of thing they sell in museums for souvenirs.

I haven't got a clue on values mate,although I suspect the sabinus isn't worth much,the Caesar is far more desirable Can't advise on selling either as I haven't done much of it,I would of thought some on here can advise you.

Second one is - Julius Caesar. 49-48 BC. AR Denarius. CAESAR in exergue, elephant right, trampling on serpent / Simpulum, sprinkler, axe and priest's hat. Cr443/1; Syd 1006; BMCRR (Gaul) 27.

Hi Colin,yes it was a detecting find,it's recorded on UKDFD ref No 20711,it's been in my collection for a few yrs now,i don't really know what kind of value it has tbh,but I am considering letting some of my coins go ( work has been slow ) to raise some cash and this could be one for sale..

Hi all,I've got this Ed.I farthing,with the reverse spelling LONDRIENSIS,known from just one die,in spinks it just says rarely,& gives no value,I've had a good look around and can't find another one,just wondered if anyone here has seen one,sorry about crap pics,I struggle to photo these little tiddlers,it does look a lot nicer in the hand.

Thanks lee,I've had a look on wildwinds,but this type hasn't got any sales there,I've recorded the coin so know the info on it I'm just curious to know the value,so have been trolling around various auction sites trying to find this variety and have so far drawn a blank,will keep looking,cheers john.
