  1. I've got £100 to spend at Christmas on some coins and I've seen two coins that are really nice, but i can only afford one. So i was wondering if i could have any help with my decision making. So the coins are: - King William III Crown (1696) in VF Condition - King George I Shilling (1715) in VF+ Condition Any Help???
  2. I recently bought an 1846 four pence coin and i noticed this scratch on the reverse. But, when i compare it to other scratches on the coin it looks different. I'm not sure if it is a deep scratch or a die crack error. Can anybody help?
  3. I'm thinking of getting a gold sovereign and i don't know whether i should get the old design or the new 2012 design - what do you think?
  4. Uncirculated means that the coin is basically perfect, to find out what the coin is worth, buy a price guide
  5. Keep the 5k for a rainy day and spend the 850 now
  6. With no bag marks or other minor problems, a genuine UNC probably around £50 - £60 its got no hairlines or minor scuffs and it still maintains all its lustre
  7. thanks, i love collecting, its one of the best hobbies out there if you ask me, ive only been collecting for about 8 months but i have quite a few nice coins

  8. Why are you buying damaged coins? Just because they are the first thing you find? I see you are quite young and by extension new to the game. You must learn to cultivate some patience because you might have to wait months or years for the right coin to come along. they were going cheap and i wanted one because i love them so much, but everywhere i look i just cannot seem to find one that looks like it is worth the amount of money a good one is going for. but i need to get more four pences so i might have to wait to get some really good eddie vii florins
  9. I would have to agree, hadn't seen that one before ... it first went into circulation in 1998 Guess I don't take much interest in that sort of thing, I only collect up to 1946! so you only collect Silver UK coins. I just collect all the pre decimal stuff with the occasional decimal proof set
  10. So many candidates! I'd probably plump for the cartwheel twopence as both obverse and reverse are equally pleasing and in perfect harmony. I'd also pitch for the Edward VII florin reverse, but the obverse is merely 'nice'. i agree with the Edward VII Florin, i have two - a 1906 and a 1908, but i cant seem to find any in good condition, my two florins are in ok condition but i wouldn't grade them any more than good condition They are very pricey in high grades, and hard to get with good eye appeal even in mid grades in my opinion, here is my 1904 for what it's worth: they are amazing, one of the best coins in my opinion, in a very high grade. Some people have all the luck. lol
  11. Welcome 50%, I am Paul (Paulus) ... if you are getting in to collecting, and especially if you are really only 12, you have come to the right place to learn tons of valuable info in next to no time, enjoy!

  12. Hey guys, i have purchased 2 Edward VII florins from my local coin dealer, and they are both in ok condition, but nothing special. They both have quite a bit of damage, and i cannot seem to find any eddie VII florins in really good condition - why?
