  1. 1. What for, this is the web? 2. I came here to ask the experts..
  2. Have been building up a little pile of toy money pieces that I've found here and there - I wonder if anyone knows much about these? I.e. what they were used for, who made them..when?? They are quite small, the Halfcrown is about the size of a farthing.
  3. Thanks for replying Yes, it does look like EDWARDWS or EDWARDVIS.. I don't think it will be S.1531? as can't clearly make out the three extra pellets in the 'TAS' quarter..
  4. I am struggling a little with this penny, it looks a bit like Richard II's type, but what about the crosses at the bottom on the reverse side?
  5. And rightly so! Some mothers do 'ave 'em - and eBay is the mother of all on 'em..
  6. Send an email to the Galata people, a wifey and housebound team of world-renowned token pro's. http://www.galata.co.uk/ info@galata.co.uk
  7. Here's another one, on t'ebay. Hope we can use the word 'wazzock' on here as it's a wazzock what can't grade very well. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/British-1797-farthing-coin-EXTRA-FINE-ALMOST-UNCIRCULATED-EXCELLENT-coin-/280758984397?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item415e8a1ecd
  8. My friend also has this really lovely Half Rupee. Hard to find too much info on this either, but these are somewhat scarcer than the full Rupees. Any ideas as to grade, value etc?? It doesn't look like it has ever been cleaned and retains some original lustre, I am going to give it an XF! Coin of the British Raj, so therefore a British coin!
  9. As a 'coin' I'd have valued it more like a tenner, owing to grade (Vg)?... in any case, are there two of them stuck together? Thanks for letting me know it was a vesta case for keeping matches, I will look into this.
  10. I have here a snuff box or "smuggler's twopence" that belongs to a friend who is interested in knowing anything of interest about it? What is it's value, and what would have this have been used for? I have tried researching this on the internet but have not found one quite similar. The grade is not too good, so I haven't though much of it in terms of value.
  11. Truly gorgeous coin the copper Twopence of George III. Use the lighting, I only have a cheapo camera.
  12. Prepared to sell at 195 GBP.
  13. Thanks. I'd be willing to come a little in price to sell one or two of these.
  14. It's an incredibly smooth and lightly toned coin for a Medieval hammered piece...
  15. It is more than 100% a Trevor Asmore "strike". A master's piece of modern ingeniousness...
  16. Thanks for that, I have lost all records of these and could not identify them!
  17. Elizabeth I Silver Shilling with the rare mm. '2' signifying the year 1602. This coin is a tad grubby however it is of a scarce type. Weight = 5.67 grammes. Diameter = 29.5/30 mm. Asking 35 GBP / 55 USD
  18. Crown of George IV (1822)! This looks to be at least VF+?.... Again, as with the Halfcrown it has actually a matte patina. According to Clayton, these are in the range of 160-500 GBP VF-XF. So a whopper! I was hoping to keep this one, but am willing to sell because I could use the funds. Asking 250 GBP
  19. A nice Halfcrown here with details that look EF though the metal has a matte dull colour as it was stored near a heat source in the past. These are selling at 200 in EF but because of toning I will ask 135 GBP.
  20. Bulgaria is sounding dodgier and dodgier all the time, what with the Lipanov Studio as well....
  21. I appreciate the historic value of early Mediaeval pennies etc. but when you compare them with Greek or Roman and even some Saxon coins, they were rubbish. In what sense rubbish? How hard is it to find a Greek or Roman these days?.. Coins of this era are so scarce it makes up for anything else - scarcity is exotic!..That's what turns on a lot of collectors I think. Surely an item like this can find its way into a collectors home!?..
  22. For price trending, there is a neat chart here: https://mtgox.com/
