  1. hi everyone just wondering if anyone would be interested in a 1902 sixpence its at least ef but aunc would be my better guess. some lovely deep toning pictures to follow if anyones interested open to proper offers
  2. one other thing is the number '7' in the date also looks different from comparing 6 other coins. would they have used the an old die from 1745 but possibly re-tooled it?
  3. last one but im not sure that there is an error with the number '6'
  4. now im not sure with this one but it seems as though there is no dots between the letter 'T'
  5. hi everyone i have recently purchased a 1746 lima sixpence and on close inspection i noticed error after error with the coin. i have seen a few of these coins for sale in the past and present but none with any serious errors on them. i have added some photos of the reverse of the coin where all these errors are situated and if anyone has any advice or comments on them i would be greatful of the feedback
  6. thanks. got the coin through yesterday. the git took a scan of a shilling and in the end sent a bloody norm sixpence. i can say i was not impressed with him. never mind the hunt goes on
  7. chris is right i have heard that the 1998 coins were quite prone to popping out quite easly.
  8. indeed it is a sixpence what you will notice is the shoulder is a lot more smoother than a shilling and it also seems that the strike seems to be poorer than a shilling heres another example of another jeb on truncation here which is exactly the same as mine but obviously not as good condition. lol
  9. coin is a little grubby but the quality of the photo is just horrid soon as i fix the problem il do a proper hi res scan
  10. sorry this is the best i can get at the mo as my scanners playin up and this gives the coin no justice if you look at yours and then mine you will see that the j.e.b is on her shoulder where yours is below
  11. no this is not the version of the coin i have the j.e.b on the coin is higher up. if you look at the small ptotos i have uploaded the j.e.b is embedded on her shoulder. i have this version though aswell nice photos by the way
  12. lol sorry chris. my bad right i have one with jeb on her shoulder here is a photo of it am i right by saying this is worth a lot more
  13. from what i have seen on these types of coins here is the types i know of 1887 young head 1887 j head without jeb (chris described this earlier) 1887 j head with jeb on shoulder (this is the one i am wondering is rare) 1887 j head with jeb below shoulder (ive seeen loads of these myself) and last 1887 wreath
  14. thanks for the reply suprising the difference in value from a normal dated coin
  15. hi just a quick question, is the 1887 sixpence with jeb on truncation a rare coin. obviously it is the withdrawn shield type and how much would one of these be valued at about ef condition thanks
  16. hello everyone one of my latest finds while metal detecting is this rather strange medal of some type saying state prohibitation. now i am led to believe that there was an alcohol ban or something like that anyway the front of this item has a rose at the bottom, a coat of arms which is the same as a shield back sovereign and three figures with the sun beaming down on them. ther reverse of this item is a picture of the globe which is round so it must have been made after the 1600s if anyone could shine a little light on this coin/medal id be chuffed to bits thanks
  17. hi again sorry ive bin away for a while my internet had gone down i am trying to upload a photo of the coin but am getting no luck. my coin isnt in as good condition as the one above as its been in the ground for well..... quite a while and little bits of the edge has broken away due to verdi. the detail of the coin though i would say is very good and still retains a lot of detail on both sides. after looking at the uploaded photo there might be a chance that it isnt the high tide aswell. doh!!! i will keep trying to upload the photo though
  18. hello everyone i have recently found a penny while metal detecting this is to be an 1897 one penny i would say at least vf condition preserved well in the ground due to clay like soil. i have cleaned the coin up and was about to put it in with the rest of me penny finds and found that it was a high tide variation thanks to mr perkins,s collectors coins gb 2009, which in every coin i find i checkup with this book, i have looked on fleabay for this item but cannot find one for sale. does anyone have a clue on its value or any interest in this coin thanks everyone
