Master Jmd, don’t you understand that we need to be psychics?
-
Because I have the book and I know that what he says is true... otherwise, I may have thought that the review is biased... or that you yourself wrote the review… but as I have found exactly the same conclusions as he has, I cannot do anything but agree and recommend the book… I already recommended it in another coin website, were Sylvester is very well known…

Words cannot describe...

Only if I had the money... -
Interesting, but if you have a slow connection, I would not recommend it... Looking forward to the complete updated version

For the younger ones...
Unknown replied to Sylvester's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
I was always the student with the best notes, so I never had the cane... But I did got hit once in the back of my head for my stile of writing... it was the "Head Master", I turned around and told him strongly, but with respect, never to do it again, that he had no reason and that if he didn't like my writing he should not call me to the black-board, he should call others that he liked the stile off... he never bother me again... -

For me I always got the best possible notes in all but English and Euskera (vasc language)... the reason is that I didn't like them, what did I need them for? Everyone spoke Spanish around me... Who would have told me that I would end up living in England... -

Don't worry, you are not the only one in that situation, I am waiting for another order from Chris (My fifth album, 2 Safe and 3 Lighthouse with this one), and the last thing I need is for my wife to find out how much I am spending! -

Depending on the price I may be interested in what you have there. Send me a PM with the info of what you have and how much yu want for it, and we'll take it from there.

Now a days everything is possible... they even want to change to name of a school that had that name for centuries, in case it offends anyone... what next?
-
Wasn't that in the other forum?
-
We have rasist in this forum!!!!
-
May be because it is harder to get them and more expensive?

Thanks! I know is not a coin, that is why I wrote "not a coin" in the title, but just in case anyone knew anything about this type of medals or there where any catalogs and the like... Chris, I didn't want to bother you with this directly, as it is not a coin and you are with too much already... in any case if 1 day I managed to get decent pictures of the "medal" with my camera, I'll send them to you for you to give me any info if you have it.

What I see in that message is someone trying to puss he coin market into a business model. Until now most of us see coin collecting as a hobby not an investment, at least I do, but they are trying to make us all see it as an investment... not interested thanks. Of course I like knowing the value of my coins, but not thinking about getting any profit out of them, just to have as much information as possible about the coins. I hope it doesn't really take off... £16 to £50 is too much money for such service anyway. Just to put the coin in a plastic case and slap a sticker to it... I know they have to do the grading, but I am sure Chris can do that for much less or even free... there you go, another business venture for you Chris, start slabbing coins all over the place!

I have what I could call a commemorative coin, which I don't know much about. I wondered if anyone here would be able to help me. The metal is made of is gold looking, whether it is or it isn’t gold, I have not a clue. It’s diameter is 25 mm, in one side it had written from down up “MONTREAL†just in the middle of the “coinâ€. At the right there is the number 76 on top of an Olympic flame. To the left there are some buildings. At the other side of the “coin†there are the Olympic circles with “MONTREAL 1976†on top and “XXI JUEGOS OLIMPICOS†at the bottom of the coin. It surprises me that it is in Spanish the “Juegos Olimpicos†means “Olympic Gamesâ€, so I guess it is not Canadian. I am trying to take a picture, but I am unable to get a clear picture with my digital Camera, it is a 3.2 Megapixels… Any instructions in taking pictures of coins would help. Anyway, anyone has an idea what this is? Any information about it would be very much appreciated.

Exactly what I do!
-
Does anybody really bother about when you posted anything? I never even look at it...
-
It will depend on the quality of the coin. There were over 13 million minted and Collectors Coins 2004 values them at: FINE - £1 VF - £2 EF - £10 UNC/FDC - £25/£40

If you want to keep the coins in albums, check the Lighthouse that Chris sells here: http://www.predecimal.com/collectors/shop/...rio_g_album.htm That is my prefer method, with coin frames, I already bought a couple of them from Chris and I have to buy another one soon. If what you want is to keep them in trays then Chris will be able to let you know what is the best one for your needs. AH! Welcome to the forum!

Anytime, sometimes at 2:00 am I am still up, other times I get up at 6:00 am, but rarely start posting before 9-10 am... But in between 10 am and 2 am, if I am at home, I check regularly the site.

If I want to get £100 of my collection, I may have to sell 200 coins! I understand what you mean, but I will never have to found anything from my collection; if I have, it would mean I am in really dire conditions and I am force to sell the whole collection as 1 item, I would hate to separate my collection.

You obviously have too much money... if you have some that you do not need I send you my bank details! I am interested in history as well, that is why it calls my attention any coin/note struck in Nazi Germany or in any other country involve during that period. Another one I like is the Spanish coinage/notes from 1936-1939, while the country was devastating itself in the civil war. The differences that the wars makes to society has to be reflected somehow in their coinage... well, at least in the past it was, now is not so much the case anymore in European countries... There is still African and Asian nations (for example: Iraq just changed their whole set of notes and coins) but I don't have the connections to get their currency cheaply.

What is it with the pocket pieces? Is that a custom in America?

I started collecting when my uncle gave me his collection. He got it in his trips around the world, getting coins from all over the place. I collect all types of coins and the collection will never be complete, but I will be satisfy once I have 1 coin from each country in the world. Then I would go for a coin of every kind ever made in the world. So I will never, ever finish my collection. But I would not spend too much money in a single coin. For spending more than $10 in a coin would have to be for a very special coin and not even then. If I were millionaire, then I would not mind, but as collie says, there are more important things in live where to spend the money.
